London Olympics - delivering in the big smoke

Is any one else being affected by the Olympics in terms of deliveries and times you can deliver? you having to do your route in complet different order and times?

i’ve been told we lorry drivers are only allowed in the city between 12am - 6am?? Why would something happening east side of London affect delivering west side of London for example?

Yep! Night time tipping at the Olympic site! Restrictions in place from 6am till Midnight!! :unamused:

All of the southeast and maybe beyond is going to be congested throughout the day during the Olympics Greg! :open_mouth:
North Circ is only going to have one lane for traffic use during the day in North and Easy London all day! :unamused:

I’ve heard there is a total shut down for 6 weeks for lorrys off someone yesterday can’t see it myself personaly

Basically London will be screwed I’m thinking of having a month off.

Nah - It’l be OK - They will all be queuing at Immigration in Theifrow.

Talk about horses, bolts and stable doors:(

Would of been nice if they could have finished with all the roadworks on the M25 in time. Hopefully the M25 won’t be to badly affected anyway.

Heard this was just for construction work only?

If lorries are so unwelcome and unnecessary in the centre of London we should all be banned from anywhere inside the M25 permanently. Let the ■■■■■■■ starve :smiling_imp: .

i hate going into the place , i always feel like im doing something wrong and ive missed a rule i should know about , god awful place :imp:

Completely agree. I picked up 2 yellow tickets the other day. 1 for doing 19mph (15mph site limit), the other for not wearing a seat belt. ■■■■■.

Thing is,will firms pay people for 6 weeks, what if their on zero hours? One firm i do a bit for part time, sent out letter in pay slip asking/telling full time staff to take 'at least 2 weeks annual leave in olympic/paralympic period, was speaking to mixer driver the other day in sunny sarf london, their firm still hadn’t any plans■■?
Think there’s gonna be a lot of people in rail/road construction biz looking for work from s/e during this period, think its gonna be right cack up!Once I’m finished this job in Bromley, won’t be back in london till october

There are a lot of companies in this area who do many drops in London all day, every day, it does make me wonder how they are going to manage.

There’s going to be a lot of drivers left stranded out of hours in London I reckon once the traffic builds up.

i deliver into london every night, ive heard this only delivering between midnight and 6am, i spoke to my boss and he says that the closures in london will be different every night depending on what olympic event is going on ie road races . i go to railway stations and covent garden. the stations are full of non english speaking security personnel who cannot understand who your delivering to even when its emblazened all over the truck. then covent garden is having more an more events on its nigh on impossible to get in to the piazza… i see lots of firms delivering in london and every driver i speak to isnt looking forward to the olympic games… its gonna be fun :open_mouth:

I’m supposed to be delivering to hotels in Tottenham during the day throughout August…!
