we have a rigid in London from Manchester every week doing a milk round (8-20 drops per day)
our TM is so f***in stupid hes not even thinking of plans and will just send us in anyway.
I don’t give a toss what happens during the Olympiad. I sit in traffic most of the day anyway, a bit more won’t make any difference to me.

I’m inclined to agree, so long as I get home each evening (we drive daycabs) I’m not too worried. If I run out of hours I’ll just ring the boss…

Exactly mate, people worry too much about things they’re not paid to worry about!
there are check points going to be put up around the olympic village about half a mile in each direction other than that no restrictions apart from days were other venues are being used you can deliver to customers inside check point area at nite only. rest of london bussines as usual but its gona be busy

i hate going into the place , i always feel like im doing something wrong and ive missed a rule i should know about , god awful placeCompletely agree. I picked up 2 yellow tickets the other day. 1 for doing 19mph (15mph site limit), the other for not wearing a seat belt. [zb].
ffs what happens next a red card ? will you be banned from the smoke ?
blimey im aiming for two yellows and a red then
Hope not, been there all week and we’re there all next week too. Tbh she [zb] up my name and the reg, so i’m not holding my breath. Petty [zb].
What was ticket 3697 for then?

It’s funny when they throw obstructions at you about how you can’t do this or that to unload, and threaten to throw you off site if you break the rules.
You then point out that you’ll need a gate pass to take their delivery back out again, could they organise that? That seems to stump them.

According to Critical information for drivers and pedestrians entering the Olympic park (OP) and off site logistics centres (snappy title) three enforcement notices is a ban. However, as the two tickets you got add up to L4 of disciplinary sanctions, you appear to be banned for six months already. It seems they’re better at issuing these tickets than enforcing them.
The Olympics’ logistics contractor expects your employer to give you a final written warning for the speeding ticket - even if it was for 16mph - and another for the seat belt. In most companies, two final written warnings means the sack.
Talk about disproportionate and unrealistic expectations! Starting the engine before fastening your seat belt may get you the speeding ticket, and the tachograph may indicate under the true road speed sufficiently to get a ticket for 16-25mph.
You’re an owner/driver, aren’t you? However, you appear to be a sub-contractor in this case, which means you may just get hassle from the company you’re sub-contracting for.
Just for kicks, assuming you are an owner driver and were driving a digital tacho truck, I’d send the (raw) tacho VU data to Drive.Safely@london2012.com - and challenge that ticket. I doubt they’re even equipped to handle .ddd files.
Meanwhile, whoever wrote those rules needs their head examined. They barely make sense (what combination of TENs and L scores equals a ban - I’m really not sure) and run contrary to natural justice in several ways (no right to demand the evidence they have against you, no allowance for the ability of tachographs to show under the true road speed, no calibration certificates and operator certification for the speed guns, and more besides).
Good job i don’t go there or Mr ticketman would be passing yellow stool
Another scam ‘fine’ from some private company filled with people who’d like to have been policemen but aren’t.
I doubt they let their lawyers look at that before they printed it, as describing you as the ‘offender’ seems to put them on pretty dodgy ground…
They can’t even decide if it’s an “enforcement notice” or a “warning notice”. Worst of all, there’s at least one apostrophe missing.
File it under ‘B’ for, um, bin.

Very considered response!
I am indeed an o/d. The outcome is… SFA.
I was told by the lad’s on the crane (Tony, Tony & Tony of City Lifting ) that a previous driver was collared at 20mph and no belt. His firm received a 32 page email and threatened to sacrifice his 1st born, castrate him and drown his pet duck!
What a shame a flagship project such as this, regardless of your feelings toward the motives, has been hijacked by these self riteous, sycophantic empty vessels.
To see all of the energies that have been poured into this site is quite breathtaking. Goes to show what we, as a nation can achieve when funds are directed to the betterment of our country and not ■■■■■■ up the wall attacking other countries.
Or, we could’ve built a hospital/rehab ce.tre for injured servicemen, and a top notch care home in every county for our old folk. Instead, we waste it just so Coe and his ilk can brag about what they did for the country for years to come.
To bring it back to transport how much will it cost in lost production when roads are closed so a few non-celebrities can jog around with a burning torch we’re led to believe comes from Greece. Forgive me for not cheering when it comes within a few miles of here…I hope you drop it.

Don’t misunderstand me Nathan, I share your sentiments on the whole charade. Maybe I didn’t make it clear enough.
As to the benefits to our industry, again i agree.
I will add though that I had nearly 3 weeks worth of bloody good paying work out of it.
Hypocritical I know, but I still have a living to make in this screwed up country.
As ever, my beef is with the ever increasing amount of “Big Brother”, “Orwellian” ■■■■■■■■ that goes hand in hand with it.
As for hospitals, amen. Not sure that i’d give the armed forces any kind of priority over us mere civvies though, after all we’re all fighting the “War on terror”, or so i’m told by the propaganda surrounding the security for the Thread title
