London Olympics 2012.

So called ‘Lord Coe’ is the driving force behind the whole lot.

Without him, this wouldn’t have happened.

of course it would.
any popular figure, that wannabes want to ■■■■ up to will do.

Rooster:
HRH with Mr.Bond was class, so was Mr.Bean, loved it, must admit one of my heroes, Ali, reduced me too tears how [zb] sad was that ?

So called “Lord” Coe, what the [zb] is that about ? What a bell-end !!!

£27m, mmmmmmmmm, but it was worth watching.

Sounds expensive but when you consider that Liverpool paid more for Andy Carroll I don’t think it’s that bad

I agree about Macca though, he hasn’t got the power in his voice and can’t hold a tune anymore, should have been at home with his horlicks (other drinks are available)

Must admit McCartney wasn’t much cop.

Not a huge Beatles fan, nor of the Olympics but I thought Macca was fairly good, not as good as Jubilee performance. I thought the show was good from what I saw, industrial revolution was great (descended from mill workers so I love that era), thought the NHS bit went a bit ginger beer.
Quite a moment for the Queen to appear in a Bond sketch (I doubt that would’ve been allowed pre Diana). The countries all flag waving was a bit cheesy for me but I was glad Roger Bannister wasn’t chosen; Sure he did the four minute mile thing but how many golds did he win?
Not bothered with it now.

That’s quite a positive post for you.
Bloke I work with was involved in it he is a pearly king. Yeah as you say there were a few ropey bits bit on the whole job well done.
I’m not a big sports fan but found my self absorbed in archery thismorning

im fed up with the games already. i like sport but i just think this has gone way over the top and cost to much. i will be glad when its all over

plenty of work available soon. it’ll all be ripped down and sold for scrap.

Where did everyone watch it, ie pub or home or were you lucky enough to have tickets?

And, what channel, did anyone find a channel to watch it where the ‘commentators’ SHUT THE HELL UP??

I tried Eurosport as it was in HD, but they kept leaving their mic’s on, so the music was getting a crap echo through the commentators mic’s, then I tried BBC1 and they just kept speaking through EVERYTHING, Dizzee Rascal got up on stage, I don’t like him, but they spoke all the way through it.

Looks like I’ll end up watching the DVD now, because it just wound me up

I was lucky enough to get free tickets to see the rehearsal on Wednesday and the show knocked me for dead. I didn’t watch it last night but have it recorded on Sky+ as i was on nights.

BBC1 HD

Can someone answer why the commentry was in french first then english?

Because French is the official Olympic language - presumably because it was a frenchman who conceived the modern Olympics.

And the Nazis resurrected the torch relay for the '36 Olympics for propaganda.

it would have been good to show a time lapse video of all the cranes, trucks, ships, and workers making it happen.
with the right music, it could have looked pretty good, and given the real grafters a big thankyou.

I think that’ll be on the DVD / Bluray in extras to be honest, he normally does things like that

Will the opening ceremony be released on DVD/bluray?? I was at a BBQ last night and after the bits n pieces I’ve seen of the opening ceremony, it did look pretty good

Last nights’ participants certainly performed better than the Brits have today.
Someone mentioned the commentators talking over Dizzee A. Hole, I went for dump when he came on.
Duffest part of the show must be the bird with the Mini Cooper and the kids getting ready to go out. Reminded me of that awful “comedy” Life of Riley.

interesting to see that the “workers” lining the entrance tunnel were all wearing hard hats!
No on else seemed to be aware of the dangers involved and there were few hi-viz jacket s to be seen.

A superb opening ceremony - hope the closing one is as good.

Disgusted at the German representative who should be sent home by the team boss.

Some of the team uniforms were fabulous but Team GB uniforms were a joke. I would have expected much smarter outfits for the host nation’s team.

Normally can’t stand Rowan Atkinson but in the Chariots of Fire ‘sketch’ he was brilliant - first time I have ever laughed at one of his performances.

Also, glad I’m not the only one who thought McCartney was awful - flat and out of tune, and looked as though he has had so many face lifts that he couldn’t even open his mouth properly. The choice of song would have been better for a funeral! As the final act it should have been a rousing song to inspire the athletes.

Never seen any of it as dont have a tv but then never watched the opening ceremony of any Olympics

Some of the sport yep

Never been a hugh fan of the beetles so not that bothered about McCartney ( he is pleasant enough mind )

Must admit, I thought it was brilliant!

McCartney had sound problems which is why it did not sound right

I enjoyed the opening ceremony and thought the music/internet section was amazing.

Loved the huge Lord Voldermort although I thought the figure looked more like professor Snape!.

Thought McCartney was pants. It is time he called it a day.

Rob

watching it now on i player so far im impressed i shall skip macca though as i have never liked him think is full of his own self importance and tbh we could have chosen a better so called legend than him
