To all the drivers etc who have delivered or worked on the olympic site, to those who have suffered delays with the increased traffic in London you must have thought after watching the opening ceremony that it has all been worth it.
I thought it was magnificent and it made me proud to be British.
It reinforced my belief that the present trouble we are in can be worked through and we can all come out the other end better off and get back to how it used to be.
Please, this is sarcasm , surely.
Not sarcasm at all, i meant every word, i was blown away with it.

I agree with you mate i thought it was brilliant aswell that lighting of the torch was amazing. But as a scouser i still cant understand the bit with Paul McCartney every big occasion they wheel him out please just leave him in his retirement home
Fair enough, didn’t really get it myself seemed a sort of disjointed mish-mash, gave up when the athletes started their procession.
Thought it was a great show.QE2 didn’t seem pleased to be there.Macca should retire gracefully, worst part of the show.
i abbsolutley hated going to that place. it was always me with the abnormal load, and ended up with the abnormal jobsworth, knuckle dragging bolt neck, pleb to help and hinder me. and that wasn’t even a G4S person.
but the opening ceremony was the greatest show on earth.
I was there watching it on Wednesday and i was blown away with the edited version to what was on last night.
I enjoyed it. Done a fair bit of work on the site from day 1 and to see what it come from to that made me proud to be British

Agreed.
HRH seemed like she wanted to be elsewhere, (Morning Ma’m) and he may have been part of the greatest pop band nearly 50 years ago, but please would someone tell him he is crap without auto tune. Ask Cheryl Cole. And why the Arctic Monkeys? There are bigger british acts around today. Take That for example. Or was it a case of Danny Boyles mates?
Loved the trackback with the music history though. (Huge music fan.) Who would have thought that they would have featured Pretty Vacant? Would have been even funnier with God Save The Queen, or Anarchy in the UK.
All in all, a great portrayal of GB, but thought the NHS thing was overdone, considering what is planned for it. I’m guessing that people in say Burkina Faso were thinking, “What the ■■■■ is the NHS?”
Thought some of the national costumes were wonderful, and my daughter said that she thought that the GB outfits would have been trackies and a hoody!!! I did win a fiver off her though by predicitng that Sir Steve Redgrave would have carried the torch into the stadium, not that publicity seeking ■■■■■■ Beckham. I bet that Victoria was crying into her Christian Louboutin shoes and Prada handbag. Fair play to him and Lord Coe though for doing their bit.
Did anyone see that German representative doing the heil Hitler? Looked like Chaz and Camilla were muttering to themselves in the background about it. ■■■■ funny.
I’m off to the games a week next Wednesday, hospitality of course, and can’t wait.
Ken.
I hated the hassle of going there but was interested to see it develop, but thought the show was really good. I liked the bit about GOSH and the NHS as they have looked after one of my sons very well and I have no complaint about them. I was a bit miffed during the speeches that there was no mention of the people who actually made it happen, the construction workers but there was a token reference as they lined the entrance for the torch coming in. Although they were probably all engineers and office wallahs rather than the Paddy groundworkers and Eastern Europeans who did the hard work.
Oh and the Team GB outfits were crap, worst of the lot looked like a bunch of Elvis impersonators.
it would have been good to show a time lapse video of all the cranes, trucks, ships, and workers making it happen.
with the right music, it could have looked pretty good, and given the real grafters a big thankyou.
I saw that German bloke too!
Thought the lighting of the flame was impressive, and maybe it’s just me but I liked Macca’s turn.
Anyone see the Estonian team in their shell suits? ■■■■ funny! All they needed was a Lidl carrier bag to complete the ensemble.

I think that’ll be on the DVD / Bluray in extras to be honest, he normally does things like that
I liked it although it was a bit weird in places, nice though to think I was there delivering some of the gear to make it. Let’s just hope we win some Gold medals

Must admit McCartney wasn’t much cop.

Not a huge Beatles fan, nor of the Olympics but I thought Macca was fairly good, not as good as Jubilee performance. I thought the show was good from what I saw, industrial revolution was great (descended from mill workers so I love that era), thought the NHS bit went a bit ginger beer.
Quite a moment for the Queen to appear in a Bond sketch (I doubt that would’ve been allowed pre Diana). The countries all flag waving was a bit cheesy for me but I was glad Roger Bannister wasn’t chosen; Sure he did the four minute mile thing but how many golds did he win?
Not bothered with it now.
HRH with Mr.Bond was class, so was Mr.Bean, loved it, must admit one of my heroes, Ali, reduced me too tears how ■■■■■■■ sad was that ?
So called “Lord” Coe, what the ■■■■ is that about ? What a bell-end !!!
£27m, mmmmmmmmm, but it was worth watching.
So called ‘Lord Coe’ is the driving force behind the whole lot.
Without him, this wouldn’t have happened.
