Yes but it’s not just tipping the load they want it in perfect lines and the wrap or bands cutting, where will it end?? They will want us to take the wrap back with us next.
Also it’s not always quick,Iv waited over2 hour for a bay at both stores…
I’m not lazy it’s just the principle I don’t agree with
Oh make up your mind You complain when you need to tip yourself, which is to much hard work, then complain about sitting on your arse for two hours… at least you had plenty of rest before tipping your load.
Yes but their argument is self tipping gets you done quicker,if you have to wait it doesn’t
Whats happened to the aldi/lidl self tipping? Gotta drag them out with a rope tied to ur balls now? Used to be a gentle walk with ur thumb on a button, wud prefer that to a tesco waiting room.
People complaining about waiting two hours but at least you’re in your cab and not held hostage in the bullpen by the Tesliban!
And why does every tosco wating room have no phone signal?? And sainsburys for that matter?. Gotta sit and watch bbc news on mute, or flick bogeys on the goods in window.
We use nothing but tilts and everything without exception is side loaded/tipped but it wouldnt bother me dragging pallets to the rear if i had to, all helps to keep the heart pumping. 4 laps around the truck park, using the gym when home and keeping a set of dumbells with me also helps (i do get some funny looks sometimes though). The only fried food was at the Uk chippy yesterday
Sitting down for hours at a time, eating cr@p food and refusing to help tip because it may burn some calories is a road to nowhere and (no disrespect) the driver having a heart attack moving a few pallets maybe shouldnt have actually been driving a truck at all.
All very well saying ‘im only a driver and only paid to drive’ but the way to look at it is excercise, and that does no one any harm…

They use signal jammers. Same as the stores. Stops the workers using their phones on the job

Do you think that if it was actually legal to jam phone signals they would use them in places like prisons?

The goverment can intercept phone calls, why wud they block prisoners calls? Screws “smuggle” mobiles in for a reason.
we tip our own loads, pallets, totes, bags of pillows, cushions etc.,with pallet truck supplied.load our collections at some suppliers as well.after steering tippers about for 25 years it’s good exercise and cheaper than going to the gym.lost a couple of stone in the 6 years i’ve been doing it and feeling a lot better
Re phone jammers, many now are quad band meaning they can restrict jamming to certain areas of a building. It may be possible to jam phones in a warehouse for example stopping workers from using their phones but a signal could still be obtained in a waiting room…

I mean ffs, get off your fat arse and do a bit of walking up and down your trailer with an electric pallet truck and stop moaning, it might even do you some good you whinging precious little snowflakes!
I saw an Aldi driver pull the pallet onto the shop floor and cut it open for the shop floor worker. When shop workers get £8.45 an hour for stacking shelves, whats the point driving for £2 more if you are lucky?
Its stupid. Im more than happy to sit at Tesco for 2 hours. £20 in my pocket as opposed to self-tipping Aldi and my employer taking payment for me tipping it and not passing it on.
Morrisons is spot on. Back on the bay and let the warehouse staff do it.

Youre missing the point. Why would you want to sit in the truck for two hours when you could be moving about and having a workout pushing and pulling pallets about?
Its far more beneficial to your health to get out and do something instead of having the attitude that ‘its not my job’…plus the time goes quicker rather than sit there bored still sitting in the same position as you did driving there for the past couple of hours or so plus, endorphins released into the brain during excercise gives you the feel good factor. Inactivity just promotes shorter life…

Aldi drivers are not allowed to take pallets into the shop whilst there are customers present. The sho manager will try, and it’s up to the driver to have the backbone to say no… the shop manager will then complain to the depot, and the next day the driver is treated like a naughty child, having to explain what happened. I know I would tell them to do one, with a big rusty stick, and left after a weeks ‘training’, for a better job.

I questioned whether the driver was allowed on the shop floor. Driver said to me that if it is really busy period they do it.

I have a gym membership to keep me active. I know what your point is, but id rather be bored and earn more to be honest.
Here we go again like look after yourself i get a tenner for self tip so I’m ok jack or it helps with my health or i get out quicker
For God’s sake have a bit of respect for your self and your proffeson and even if you like doing it don’t come on here and show you’re lack of intelagents it’s all part of the job when you have a choice to do these things it’s not when you are told you have to and there is no harm in liken it but you are doing away with jobs

+1 on that
I work on a multi drop gas tanker, often pulling a hose 30 metres probably spent more time outside the truck then in it, watch my diet food during the day is water, fruit and rice cakes. When I got to the truck stop for fuel the shape and size of some drivers is alarming , how do these people pass a lgv medical ?
