The answer is to stay out of London Thatâs one of the reasons I got rid of my motors, being a native of that fine city meant that I would have to turn my motors around far too often, buying new lorries just to keep the tossers in the GLC happy or whatever itâs called now is not good business
Well I believe youâre doing exactly what they want then: Use public transport, donât drive or deliver urself. Leave the business to the big players who can afford the excessive costs for filters.
Is any one seeing a member of the GLC any time soon? I have scheduled an appointment already awaiting confirmation. Iâm sure they are not even aware of these things, especially not why the costs for the filters are so high. They just listen to their âexpertsâ. So some clarification might work as well as some pressure (e.g. from the amount of visits they get).
We need fairness on small businesses and that shouldnât be spoiled by costs caused by excessive regulation if the goal can be achieved on other/fairer ways.

I left the country altogether, so they may not have any of my fumes, but they ainât getting any of my tax either, in 06 I was spending at least 6grand a week on diesel, then there were the drivers I employed, the tax they paid, my contributions and all the other taxes I paid Okay, Iâm in the minority, not everyone decided to emmigrate, but how many are going to go out of business or move away because of the ever tightening regulations? Itâs typical spend a tenner to save a pound government thinking
As for the polluting lorries that cannot go into the LEZ, how mad is it that they can run along a mile outside the exclusion zone, belching out their baby killing smoke and poison I lived in London for 40yrs, I wasnât aware that we had our own atmosphere
I reckon this is probably the first time that the European Court of Human Rights can actually do some good, the LEZ is persecution to anyone who goes there, even more for anyone who operates within it, it cannot be legal, maybe some of the Billions in tax money the local governments in London have squirrelled away can be used to give hauliers who comply with the LEZ a nice fat tax rebate to compensate them and thank them for saving the lives of the Londoner, who probably jumped out of the back of a Euro 1 engined truck in Farthing Corner anyway, not so fussy about emissions then, were they
ÂŁ6700 to retrofit mine by Volvos as stated Apparently its dearer as it has a stack, funny that what with that being the mainstay of Eminoxâs business, an exhaust clamp & 2 bolts removed & au-revoir to your new shiny pipe Crock of â â â â all of it. Might just have to avoid the filthy south as from next January.

Thatâs my solution. I refuse to send a truck inside the M25 on principle these days, as it is way too much hassle in general. The extension of the LEZ has just given me another excuse.
I have to agree with you. Getting on my nerves the way everybody seems to accept this. I did hear that there are a few people in Bury St Edmonds want to arrange a protest drive, will see. I will be carrying on writing my protest letters to everybody that I can think of. and of course once a date is arranged I will be happy to clog up London in protest.
âMrHappyâ]I think whatâs needed is a national boycott of any deliveries into London by all hauliers. Imagine all of us who supply the capital with deliveries on a daily basis refusing to enter with anything! Iâm no fan of the snail munchers over the channel but its the sort of thing they would do and do properly. But, same as everything in this country no doubt weâll all just drop our kecks, bend over and take it, same as always
