When the M3 is congested i allow the cars to join from the slip road, the thing is i leave a space about the size of the Titanic, they sail past at high speed and go right to the end of the slip and then can not join the road as nobody will let them in.
Try it yourself next time and you will see what i mean, any reason why they have chosen to ignore the gap and prefer to be boxed in at the end.
I have noticed when a car driver has changed their minds and wants to swap lanes, why do this when nobody is moving.
When they try to change lanes, they find it hard to position the car in a straight line, instead they attack the angle at 45 degrees and get stuck, they had plenty of room and space to get in lane, but always make a meal and mess out of it??

Most probably cos they’re driving Audi’s Seriously though, noticed the same thing myself, must be the “I want to get to the front mentality”.
Yes, it is only Audi and BMW drivers, black or silver cars only for some reason, rep mobiles, late for the chin wag in the conference room?
im failing to see the problem , they are using all of the slip road to its full capacity so congestion wont be as far back up the slip road and onto the roundabout at the top. Its the idiots that try and get on as soon as the chevrons finish separating the slip the road to the motorway that are the problem as there is about 500 yards of road left to merge in.
British motorists are a funny bunch, they will cut you up any chance they get to get in front but yet wont use the carriageway to its full capacity when its time to merge in turn preferring to sit in standstill traffic for 800 yards rather than use the lanes up to its full capacity.
I’ve noticed the same, it’s not a problem it’s just the stupidity of driving past a gap then trying to force their way in were there isn’t a gap.
They must see the gap when they go past, it must be human nature to be first or something.
Cockneys and bottlenecks! farnborough town
you would say that!
the idea is to get to the same speed and manoeuvre safely into FREE FLOWING TRAFFIC!
it’s a cockney thing!

I never let car drivers in, less stress…
If there is plenty of space to join in front and they won’t put their foot down I won’t take mine off. Then watch them panic and floor it, brake hard or run up the shoulder
Before the holier than thou brigade come on I like to have dangerous and unpredictable drivers behind me not in front. If you can’t accelerate into a gap the size of London I class you as dangerous.

Is it only me that always regrets dropping back thus allowing the Trilby wearing Rover driver to join the Motorway.Should know better by now that he is going to poodle along at 48mph . .no doubt on the way to the garden centre.

Don’t think of selling it and buying a BMW cos BMW drivers are worse

which can work to the advantage of the more knowledgeable. a couple of months ago there was an incident on the A1 just south of the junction with the edinburgh bypass and the queue was on to the roundabout due to these plums not using the full sliproad. i chose to follow it to the end by which time everything was moving to lane 2 as the police cones started just after the end of the sliproad so i got in to lane 1 no problem instead of causing a long queue. then someone let me in to lane 2, past the incident and on my way leaving the congestion causers behind me who were trying to join the carriageway right at the start of the broken lines where there was already a queue with people trying to get into lane 2. these idiots were effectively turning 2 x 2 into 1 lane situations into a 3 into 1 lane.
i see it at most sliproads. there is a mentality of getting onto the carriageway ASAP, even crossing the solid lines at times instead of assessing the flow of traffic, identifying your easiest opportunity and adjusting your speed to achieve a smooth crossover. then there are the ones who stop accelerating at 50 and expect a gap to be made for them. no, get up to the speed of the flow of traffic, not expect the flow of traffic to adjust to your speed
or the other type who are forward of you, travelling faster than you then see you and slam the anchors on instead of jumping in front of the truck and accelerate away causing no problems for either party. that would be too easy
Lorry drivers do the same thing…

Lorry drivers do the same thing…
Granted but not as bad lol why is it if a lorry moves over for me to join I get on and then ease off to let him back over, if I move over to let a car on they decide to stick alongside me for half a mile then put there foot down this windes me up more than anything.

Why do you bother moving over then?
