waynedl is spot on with this, the Driver Card is designed to hold a minimum of 28 days of data, in reality, for most drivers it will hold several months of data even if you use the card every day.

Last time I looked my card which is used daily could be read back about 10 months and that’s not unusual

[zb] :open_mouth:

It’s a common misunderstanding

Now i hate them even more than i did before

If the OP made a mistake why not put a manual entry on the card to correct the error?
No need to take print outs etc

If the tachograph has recorded other work for an entire night as far as I know there’s no way to change it to rest

If he withdraws the card and re-inserts it the only option for a manual entry would be from when the card was re-inserted.

If you want to see how far back the records on the driver card go you can check with the card in the tachograph.

For a Siemens tachograph, with the card in the tachograph and the tachograph on the standard display:

  • Press “OK” - The screen will show “Printout Drive 1”
  • Press the down arrow key about four times until the screen shows “Display Driver 1”
  • Press “OK”
  • The screen will show “24 hour Display” (or something like that) Press “OK”
  • The date will flash, use the down arrow key to change the date, keep pressing the down arrow key until the date stops changing, the oldest date you can get on the display is the oldest record on your driver card.

Be warned you could be pressing the down arrow key for some time though

Just tried that now…goes back to 03-10-2011 only.

Not that it matters much to me…my offences are few and infrequent.

Yeah same here, only thing i had was the same as the OP’s problem a few months back pluss ive had about 1 maybe 2 overspeeds in the last 12 months. Il try the above though just out of interest. Cheers Tachograph

so to get this right you didnt leave the tacho card in you left the digi card in
tacho cards are round, digi cards are oblong

was it only me who was wondering how he was going to do a printout with an analogue tacho

It’s not just infringements, it’s everything, driving time, working time, breaks etc. You can do a full print out (or display if you want to save the rain forrests) and see what you were doing at 10am on your birthday last year if you were working / tacho in machine.

Yep, pain in the arse, stops fraud I guess. I’m pretty sure though anyone who saw 12hrs of ‘other work’ after you’d been on shift 12hrs followed by some more driving would know you’d been at home and forgot to eject card.

Yes, just you. It’s a tacho card NOT a tacho disc :unamused:

Yeah, aware of that Wayne, i was just generalising cause im knackered
I wonder waht VOSA’s stance is on something as trivial as forgetting to take your card out should he get pulled??
There must be thousands of drivers it happens to! I left mine in once simply because the phone rang at the wrong time just before i left the cab.

I think you’ll find that most people around here refer to driver cards and tachograph charts which make them clearly distinguishable, personally I hope that continues because to refer to them as tacho cards and digi cards is going to cause confusion.

Roller265:
If the tachocard is left in overnight by mistake what can I do to start again without the tacho carrying from when I parked up .

Nothing.

Roller265:
No doubt Vosa will think I am driving this tipper all night

They won’t.

I hope this helps.

Although I use tacho charts, I’ve forgotten to switch mode to rest/break at end of shift. My TM likes us to do manual entries of rest before starting and after finishing work.(Except holidays and weekends thankfully) I can’t be arsed so I just leave tacho on rest overnight. I have to make sure I’m not late for work though  When I do forget, a simple “forgot to switch to rest 16:20-06:20” on the back has never got me told off.

one or maybe two overspeeds in twelve months? i usually have more than that every hour. why do some drivers sit with their foot on the brake, doing about 53 downhill on the motorway? surely you can sit at 60 whether tacho is flashing away or not?

On most vehicles I’ve driven with digital tachographs the overspeed doesn’t kick in until the vehicle is doing 60 mph

1 or 2 overspeeds in a 12 month period !!!
are there no hills were you drive
or is it set so high they dont register

Nah, mine will register after about 10 seconds or so sitting at 57, either that or to many instances of 57 in a short period, say like a minute or summin like that. I may only use a motorway once a month sometimes hence my lack of overspeeds! On DC’s in my area (Devon / Cornwall) I tend to keep it at around 53 these days unless its the middle of the night
