I’d imagine if bus was brand new just going from a 2 b non stop it could make it.
But over time I guess the range becomes less and less
Essex has got a fleet of 55 electric buses coming their way before the end of the year for duty in & around Basildon. Essex gains first battery-electric buses - electrive.com
Stagecoach/bee network Manchester has them.
Just outside mine is a bus stop .
when old buses came you could hear them gently ticking over . Now when they come is nice n quiet but when the set off god the make some noise kind like an aircraft engine wiring up .obviously not as loud.
But definitely louder than old diesel buses when setting off
I wonder if that’s the pedestrian alert sound when setting off, My MG ZS EV has that up to 12mph.
First time they stop the yoofs will have the batteries out for their e-bikes ![]()
Blimey! These new Voltempo 1MW chargers for Britain’s HGVs are massive.
Voltempo begins production of megawatt charging system - Transport + Energy
Electric Trucker makes it to his destination in Turkey in his Mercedes e-600 & surprisingly they have huge charging infrastructure truck stops there. Romania & Bulgaria ban trucks over 20 ton when the temp reaches 35C to stop the road deforming. ![]()
Here is another Actros with a silly back axle.
This is what I was on about the other week with these e600,s we’ve got , all having alloy wheels , is that due to weight of batteries , it seems it is
Another 2 arrived this week so we now have 6
Put a bonnet on it, make it a twin steer and move the batteries forward-problem solved!
Looks like overnight charging for HGVs with massive battery packs with which to balance the national grid is going to be a money spinner for the Welch group.
I’ve just finished 10 months trials with that OHME crowdflex event gathering data for when V2G will become commonplace, I’ve been getting paid £12/month just for leaving my car plugged in when parked in the garage, not necessarily charging.
They get all this data from hundreds of thousands of yer average BEV owners who took part on how they charge & when the grid can draw power from your car to balance it so they don’t have to build more power stations, they know exactly how much charge you need weekly with this data & how they can balance the grid. There will be thousands of GWs of electricity sat in EV traction packs by the end of the decade that they can tap into with smart charging. https://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/welch-group-hoping-to-unlock-flexibility-revenue-from-electrification
Bad news lads! It looks like you’ll have to wait until next year to get your hands on a Tesla semi, The snake oil salesman has been stating that it’s been production ready since 2019, but it’s been delayed again until 2026 & the price of the 500 mile model has reportedly ballooned to $300000. Mecedes, Iveco & Volvo etc must be laughing all the way to the bank.![]()

Save on carbon apparently with electric Lorrie’s then run apx 120 miles empty to pick a load up, just about done 40 , pulled over for 10 mins on a50
what did ever happen to
All the song & dance about empty running , one time you couldn’t leave the yard without 26 palls , now nobody cares !!
I could see the veins in my old transport managers temples pulsating at the thought of running empty.
As trampers, we would just go to the nearest port when tipped & back load Canadian pulp bales for the paper mills up Scotch.
Last place I worked based at Trafford park one day tipped at stoke about 15 30 rang up half hour later was told can’t find you any work park up for night can’t afford have you run back empty. Said can be back in less than an hour. Anyway parked up for night.
About week later dropped off in Plymouth. Told drive towards Birmingham more chance finding work there.
So did was passing Kidderminster got call turn round got collection in avonmouth.
So did then they weren’t happy when I insisted on paid parking as collected truck load spirits whiskey etc.
After arguing they paid for night out in Chippenham truck stop.
Was told when got back we didn’t factor in the load warrented secure overnight parking so we didn’t factor it into the price.
Told em not my problem you want me park someware risk it being nicked up to you
Wow, sounds like that place you worked for had razor thin profit margins. Once a company is like that the worker often suffers their BS more so than usual.
God knows .
was small firm 5 trucks fella that ran it built it up from a couple of vans. He wanted to retire to sold it off to some bloke. And he didn’t have a clue bined off all the regular decent work we had .
and relied on haulage exchange etc for work.
Only good thing is he didn’t have a clue. Left us alone once we had a job and didn’t keep asking for ETA etc just left us alone had no trackers . And he believd anything you told him not like we took the pee much we wernt like that.
But yeah story short within 3 years he shut us down. God knows how much he lost but not my problem.
Didn’t get any redundancy.
Just a txt message one Saturday morning don’t turn up for work Monday gone bankrupt come in clear your trucks out there going back to MV commercial.
Yeah I can relate, I’ve seen firms parcel out the best runs to other firms and it cost them in the long run.
