The spec sheet weight for a standard Actros e600 is 11698kg, with a max gvw of 20000kg. The legal train weight for a full electric in 5 axles is 42t, so a payload of about 23.5t depending on trailer.
That weight is for the 600 so the bigger battery pack, with a streamspace cab in standard trim. Out of interest Alcoa Durabrites are standard, as is 830bhp on boost, 630 constant running. They claim 500km on a charge and if you have access to a fast charger at your turnaround point a 30 minute boost will give you an 800km range. So it’s not the vehicle which limits it’s usability but the infrastructure, which still has a long way to go.
Electric trucker is at the Nürburgring for the truck grand prix weekend, It shows the new 2026 Iveco s-way electric unit sporting the Nikola hydrogen front look near the end of the vid.
European automakers are toast & have been for at least five years. VW are now looking the most in trouble & in danger of collapse. They have closed some plants that are still geared for making ICE vehicles, slashed thousands of jobs, cut shifts from its state-of-the-art Wolfsburg EV plant because they just cannot make BEVs cheap enough & never will be able to.
It was leaked three years ago by the VAG that they only made expensive EV models purposely to turn round to the government & say there’s no demand. There’s HUGE demand, but not for their overpriced electric cars.
These tariffs the EU has put on Chinese BEV manufacturers has been a spectacular home goal! Chinese EV manufacturers now have BEV & battery cell plants in Austria, Magna Steyr are building X-Peng EV models, Chery is in Bacelona Spain, BYD has plants in Hungary, Turkey, Slovakia & Czech republic, Leapmotor is in Tychy in Poland. All these plants will be coming online this year & next year, making EV’s in Europe’s backyard with zero tariffs. Legacy auto will be dead & buried.
There’s another blot on the landscape coming in January 2026 for legacy PHEV models when the new Euro 6e-BIS emissions regulation comes into force, PHEVs are going to get much stricter emission tests, with some PHEV models seeing their CO2 figures double – or even triple.
Electric trucker is in Belgium this time & what a palaver getting the toll box from a self-service machine sorted out for driving around the road tolled network & emissions class in that country.
Seems to be a lot of wiring on the back of these electric lorry’s , wonder how that will stand up long term , them orange wires ( assume electric ) look a bit seriousl if your stood on catwalk and it’s pissing down with rain
High-powered electric HGV chargers to be installed along the UK motorway network in pull through bays, The rollout will begin with three motorway service areas: Lymm, Toddington North, and Toddington South. Better late than never.
There’s 1 not sure if it has 2 connectors but there’s 1 on the estate opposite magor services . Opposite the big yellow hotel random place to put one . But seen hgv parking there once in a while.
Wonder how much charge you’d get in your 45 mins break
One electric truck was on charge when I returned to yard after first run , it was still on charge when I returned from 2 nd run 4 hrs later
2 electric trucks were on charge when I left yard at 2 am today & it looked like they were still on charge when I got back at 15.00 , but that could be they didn’t have the runs to use those electric lorry’s on
If they’re duel bay shared chargers, like a lot of car charging sites, then the power will be shared between the two vehicles charging, i.e. if the chargers are 200KW then the two vehicles will charge at 100KWs each.
You’ll see drivers at most charging sites backing into every other bay so as not to halve the power with the other vehicle, if the site is busy then that goes out the window.
The only chargers that offer a 100% charge in 45 minutes are the new 1MW lorry chargers.
It looked like some of the new parking bays at Chippenham truck stop had electrical points by them, but I imagined that was just an option for reefers on electric.
A primary charge while you are nighting out would seem like a time efficient strategy if you can find a facility.
Call me a luddite, call me old fashioned, call me over cautious, call me paranoid…in fact call me wtf you like.
Having seen the vids on you tube akin to instant combustion, there is no way in hell I’d be wanting to night out in one of those 'kin abortions.
At least by the time they are common place (in the same way autos took over from manuals) Rob’s trucking days will be well over, …whilst I’m sat frying on a beach somewhere (as opposed to frying in a 'kin electric truck.)
I am dreading hearing about the first fellow trucker becoming the first (badly charred) fatality at a truck stop somewhere…, and the poor ****er parked next to him in a ‘’‘proper truck’’ being the second.
I sincerely hope I AM in fact being paranoid in all this
…seriously!!
