Am i the only one who is wound up by this? Just seems there is a lot of drivers, artic drivers in particular who just pull into a bay at the services or park in such a way that they dont give a toss about where their trailer or unit is. When i park up i always take into consideration my other “fellow professionals” even if i have to take a few shunts to straighten the trailer up or what ever. Am i going to impede anyone or make life difficult for someone whilst im parked, will i get out alright or get stitched up when i leave.
I can understand for e.g if your parked in a tight area and a truck in front leaves whilst your on a break it can make you look a bit stupid but thats fine. Far to many drivers just pull into a bay at the services overhanging their bay with either their unit or trailer and sometimes even pull in at an angle where their trailer is across 2 bays.
That don’t wind me up as much as one car parked in the middle of a Kathy. I will over hang the bay behind me sometimes if I think it improves the chances of my mirrors still being attached.

If the tacho is on 4:29 when I pull into somewhere, the truck will get stopped ASAP regardless to how it’s parked.

Shouldn’t be leaving it til 4.29 to get parked up for a break, what about the next fella on 4.27 who can’t get into a bay coz you leave yours til the last minute■■? Oh I’m alright jack, zb everyone else
Talking about inconsiderate drivers, just got into bed at Cambridge services last night and in came a bloody Pole with a fridge running.
Not got a problem with the fridge noise but when he started shouting at his mrs/girlfriend/old bag because his door wouldn’t shut then I got a tad upset,to make matters worse his mate turned up in a car and they started to shout, play loud music etc.
I threw the drivers door open and asked if they minded ■■■■■■■ off somewhere else the noisy polish git!!
They went soon after, don’t know whether it was me shouting at them or the sight of me in my undercrackers that made them move!!!
Why are people so bloody inconsiderate■■?

the last time i looked at the drivers hours rules and regs, you are allowed to do 4:30 driving before a break is needed
if i know i can get somewhere in 4:29, then i will go for it, not park up 15 minutes or so early

I was in that situation recently, drove from Hatfield to Denham trying to find a lay-by that wasn’t occupied or coned off.

i know the rules and regs thanks, but i dont se the point in cutting things fine and leaving it to the last minute to find a space to park for a break, then not being able to find one, and then having to park taking up 2 bays for example, all because you have run out of time

have been in that situation as well, but the thread is about people parking badly and taking up 2 bays
I have the same problem with lazy parkers at Leigh Delamere who park up in the designated Hazardous Loads area!

Wetherby MSA is a good example of absolute chaos, cars, caravans, lorries, all in one area.
I thought this thread was going to be about my parking today on the A56 near Haslingden.
Coming up the hill, my truck started warning me of ‘low oil pressure’, alarm going off, stop light flashing etc, approaching layby the engine is grumbling and truck vibrating.
There’s a truck that’s at the front of the layby and a van pulls into the layby as I’m approaching and reverses to the back, so I pulls in the middle, as close as I could to the van, but the angle and gap left me parked like a ■■■■■■■ arse end corner right on the line and front right corner of unit right on the line, got shook to hell everytime someone went past and was just waiting for my mirror to disappear or to end up planted in the back of the truck infront when someone misjudges it.
This was around 9am this morning, so if you passed, sorry if it looked inconsiderate, it wasn’t, it was an emergency, and if you were the 2 trucks that didn’t go within 1" of me, thanks for the space, it meant I could get a sip of my brew.
