Pulled into Burtonwood services last week for a 45, I was following a wide long load with an ■■■■■■ van.
I pulled onto the truck park and stopped in one of the many empty spots.
The wide load couldnt get into the designated wide/long load bay because a Ceva tractor unit was parked right in the middle of the layby.
He soon got up when the ■■■■■■ van driver banged on his door!
It was an oldish fella that was moaning and cursing being woken up and haveing to move. Numpty there was enough space to park a couple of 100 tractor units in there …Why do they do it?
Southwaite Services Northbound… Ok it has a funny set up where you park one behind the other in rows of two with an exit lane between. Simple yes?
Clearly not, everyday there is always a pillock or two who parks in said lanes (clearly marked with EXIT and arrows) making it impossible for the now boxed in trucks behind to get out, I walked over to one wagon parked up in the wrong spot one afternoon and banged on the door, woke the ■■■■■■ up like but gave him a mouthful, along with a few other drivers he’s blocked in. Wont name the company but they’re well known and from the Potto area.
After refusing to move out the way, he dived out of his motor and wobbled towards burgerking. Luckily I used to work out of Southwaite for Egertons and called up the lads in the garage, 10mins of so later Mr “I cant read signs” found his motor parked behind Egertons rekker, ready to be towed out of the way.
once nighted out at tamworth on the second row.when it was time to go the guy in front was still asleep,so the only way out was backwards, unfortunately during the night a locust had decided to park across the back so i had to wake him up and get him to move.
many a time spotted a better space and moved so I never get blocked in, Lincoln farm used to be the same, laddo would park you up how he wanted to, so the early lads would park at the front, there used to be a couple or arses who would say 5am when it was really 7 just to get a front spot, forgetting musty behind would be going at 6ish… was always hearing shouting and raised voices/horns between the hours of 4-6am lol
Caravans in HGV bays do my nut in. Called into Hilton Park (NB) the other day and there must have been about 8 of the things parked in the spots facing directly the bays where they should be parked. Just because the old dears don’t fancy reversing out.
They’d be the first to complain if we parked in there bays (which I have often done at Knutsford).

That don’t wind me up as much as one car parked in the middle of a layby.
Yep, that ^^ really ■■■■■■ me off too!
+1. Also cars, cars + caravans and vans parking in msa lorry parks.
Wetherby MSA is a good example of absolute chaos, cars, caravans, lorries, all in one area.
I only use one, birchanger and its a [zb] joke. Have a 45 parked up and then spend 45 getting out.
why the hell do you keep going then
I dont like laybys, because thats where tipper and skip drivers park… I consider myself above them.
Lol.
No you’ll be behind them, and me at the site that are delivering to
Dont you lot normally park on the road and drive the diggers in? Us, we skillfully reserve straight on to site and position ourselfs extactly where the client wants their goods.
No I reverse right in and block the way for the lazy ■■■■■■■■ trying to go home at 3.45pm on Friday, get sworn at because they want to get out and go home. Reply that if they’d got their ■■■■■■■ machine ready and waiting then they’d have been home sooner. Get told that I must be some sort of cupid stunt, to which I reply yes I am, it’s the company I keep.
It just seems a bit selfish in my opinion drivers just landing their trucks wherever and not giving a ■■■■ about anything around them. I’ve a few times pulled into the services cutting it fine on my hours and on two occasions I’ve gone over by about 3 minutes while manouvering or parking suitably. I was even pulled by vosa in Iver knowing I had a few infractions on it for that very reason, I explained before I handed my card over and when they came back to me they were fine with it, it’s not as if your making a habit of it nor are you going over your hours by 15, 20 minutes.
Like 8wheels said, building site staff parking in the middle of the site; Plasterers, sparkies and council building inspectors are the worst. It might be convenient for them, but ■■■■■ it up for everyone else…
Persimmon Homes please take note…
Just shoot the [zb]s if they park like a one cell amoeba…it really is that simple
If it needs stars to get a word past the auto-censor, that’s a clue that you’re trying to use a banned word, so putting stars doesn’t make that word become acceptable. dd.

Am i the only one who is wound up by this? Just seems there is a lot of drivers, artic drivers in particular who just pull into a bay at the services or park in such a way that they dont give a toss about where their trailer or unit is. When i park up i always take into consideration my other “fellow professionals” even if i have to take a few shunts to straighten the trailer up or what ever.

Lets be realistic the only people bothered by running
a bit over 4.30 are office dorks
Thing is and as much as lazy parking can irritate me at times - even if VOSA sympathise with you for going over by a bit on the road side, they are unlikely to be as sympathetic with your gaffer if they pay him a visit and the tacho records on the computer are full of ‘infringements’ because of drivers going over whilst spending time parking their wagons up neatly at the services.
