Hi,all, I am a night trunker,i have noticed artics parked overnight, with a small red flashing light attached,on rear of trailer,
are they legal ? how are they attached,- are they solar or charged? - where can I buy one,& how much? p.s. on tramper work soon
You could probably adapt a rear cycle light to do the job, not sure if the are legal though.
you probably need two rear lights , four or five side markers and two front ones. i dont think plod would worry about top markers… bike lights are good but what about them stick up round ones in the diy stores ? you can get packs of 3 for about a fiver. and a bit of coloured plastic to cover them…or even have a look on fleabay.
I think the requirement is for two reds to the rear and two whites to the front.

Mucker will give a good reply, that’s for sure.
“Muckaway” will surely have a problem for every reply .
Cheers , cattle wagon man.
Well as some drive them I wonder if this is relevant
Cones and flash lights
If you are placing skips on the road you will require traffic cones on the approach side to guide traffic safely past them.At night or in bad weather conditions, all skips must be marked by amber flashing lights which should be either attached to every corner of the skip or placed against the sides of the skip. If you have a row of two or more skips (with less than two metres space between them) you can put lights on the end corners of the row.
If the skip or skips are positioned on the road, lights should be placed between each of the road cones. You will be charged by the council if contractors have to be sent out to make a skip safe or to put lights on an unlit skip.

not such a daft idea… if you string them along the front, side and rear they can’t do you for no lights, you can always swap the different colours around so they are in the right place…and they are usually 12v off a transformer , so a little butchering job on the wiring and the job would be a good un… I cant imagine they would drain a wagon battery very much.

■■■■■■ if I know my lorry’s parked behind the yard gates at night.
i think one side illuminated for parking is legal, on my skoda with ignition off the indicator stalk will switch on just one side at front and back (left or right)
Yeah I’d imagine its fine for just adding a bit of extra visibility to a parked vehicle. You certainly need a minimum of one light on each side (that doesn’t flash) for driving though.

Why not go the whole hog and hang some baubles on the trailer . . . and maybe some tinsel for added effect

How’s it going Rog trust ur keeping well
Years back the old man used to have a parking light that clipped onto the drivers window.
White to the front, red to the rear.Plugged into the ■■■ socket it used to drain the battery though.
Had to help him push start that Hillman Minx many a time.

I had one of those on the driver’s side window of the Big J. A red paraffin-powered workman’s light hung on the rear of the trailer completed the set.
