Layby parking lights?

Years back the old man used to have a parking light that clipped onto the drivers window.
White to the front,red to the rear.Plugged into the ■■■ socket it used to drain the battery though.
Had to help him push start that Hillman Minx many a time.

Might sound daft but I thought you only needed lights on when parking on the road? Surely parking in a lay-by counts as off road parking?

I once saw a low loader in a lay by with a little red bike light on the o/s ramp. Seemed more like a courtesy light.

I had to use crocodile clips to connect the leads to the battery terminals on mine :frowning:

a thought one is better than non
but I would have thought a series of lights would be
required to make it legal

LED lights are the way to go.
