Last euro trip.

Genuinely not trying to be smart here but if your staying away for 2 weeks at a time, is it really important where your company is based? Surely any company worth there salt can get you someway close to home for your time off no?

depends how far is " how far ", I would have thought the 2 weeks away would 45 at home and 24 away but I still wouldn’t be over excited at travelling to far for a 45 off.
if you was doing 6 weeks or a month out then 3 or 4 days off when you get back I could justify a bit further travel.

You would think so but I’ve tried this kind of thing more than once. It never seems to quite work out. Either the company don’t want to pay for the diesil ( and I don’t blame em ) or its too far to travel when all your really getting is a day & a half.

Fair enough, I’m in Ireland so different over here but I have friends that generally get looked after to within 20 or 30 miles of home and then given the option to leave the lorry at last delivery point and be collected or in some cases take the thing home. I thought that was the norm, it was when I was at it anyway. Used to go a half hour out of my way to call and see the mother. I suppose the jobs changed too though. That was 6 year ago.

You ain’t missed much Turnip,I’m on train now on way back to Folkestone and then Devon…weather has been ■■■■■ over there…hellish storms in Italy and Brescia last night was a wash out…the Italians are still ■■■■■ at driving  …Germans still fast and the Belgians …we’ll who knows…
Derv and food still cheaper and better though …Showers far superior to most I’ve come across in UK
Go steady

I’ll always miss it I think. But if my last couple of trips to Italy were anything to go by, I won’t be missing a lot. And given i can earn considerably more over here on mon- fri work I will stay away !!!
