Last euro trip.

Cold Up North:
I was talking to a lad down south yesterday who had re-registered in bulgaria, was using eastern labour and was still getting undercut…

Did he say how difficult it was to set up down there?

By the way anyone knows what these ones pay for km - trawoeger.net/team/team_frame.php?lang=de and do they take on owner drivers?

it will only get worse eastern europeans are here doing our jobs for less and faster and with less bother, eastern european trucks are here working all week in the uk under cutting uk hauliers and doing loads out to any where in europe for half the price they dont stand a chance,
wabberners truck was empty at the train the other night coming over to england so he will be doing uk loads.
one firm i know £500 for a load to london on saturday morning mr eastern european comes along and does it for £250
my boss just had two jobs offered to him
£800 milan
£1,000 rome
you wouldnt even bother at them rates jobs were snapped up in minutes.
when you are on the road in the uk at the weekend all you see is eastern european trucks working this is why our money and rates will never go up.

Ferry and tunnels must be £400 for anybody■■?

hope ya last week went ok mate ? get all the crap ?

Yes & yes. Lol

Was with 2 Romanian lads on wed may day, parked up on the industrial estate at Piaczenza sud (south) for the day, and they were both running for an Italian firm on Polish plates, for between e1400 - e1800s a month weekends including, one lad hadn’t been home since august, the other lad does 2 months on then a week off, so its everywhere !
Wabereres are paying e1000s a month, and will take on absolutely anyone and new drivers !
But they did mention one thing that made me laugh, all the Romanian lads that don’t work for Wabereres, all say that " the sun is smiling on the back trailer, whilst the driver is crying in the front in the truck "

Apologies for the double post, good night last night and i’m on the good lady’s laptop

Another euro brother leaving us :frowning: Don’t think our eastern european cousins have helped in all this…
All the best in your new job turnip, their loss i suppose !!
But your right to make your stand ! Even tho’ you love the job !

Your right glenn, pictures like these don’t help.

Heartbreaking JD, Heartbreaking…

That’s a real shame fella…I often look at windscreen of your (ex) wagons to see if I could see Turnip on a plate…ain’t seen many of your lot around Calais or M26/20 lately.
Good luck mate…although your now sorted,Peter Green ain’t to far away should you get restless… :bulb:

I would always prefer European work, but I am also one who thinks if you live and work in a tin box, you should be entitled to leave it for a couple of hours and enjoy some time at the Stammtisch or in the Resto. When the prices are knocking on €20 for basic fayre and normally €30 once you leave France. The end of the restos is not far away either. A great shame and something so many young drivers will never experience.

No you won’t see many around Calais etc cos they have lost all the Dutch work. Shame really.

Last week our 18t did 2 drops in Paris @ £2400…I know we do specialist work but £800 for Milan is less than we charge for a part-load…absolutely shocking the hole this government has got us into…the tossers should stand on a bridge over the m20 on a Sunday and see the EE trucks entering the uk and see the reason our transport industry is in the state it’s in…I will just add this picture of a double manned low cab man 7.5t that arrived to load a 1915 fiat twin wheel car/truck, he had a block& tackle and 2scaffolding boards…you can just see the double mattress hanging from roof…

hi turnip…if your who i think you are… daf95 then nearly new premium…pm me … i’m on for whites been here nearly 5 years job is sound and would suit you…cheers and bring bag the little house on the praire…

Not me I’m afraid. Never drove a Renault truck in anger yet.

Ok, so the EE are taking all the work and ruining the UK haulage industry. So what are you all going to do the to protect your jobs then?

■■■■ all, that’s what.

[zb] all, that’s what.

What are YOU doing.

I admire turnip for jacking it in.
Must be hard to walk away from a job you love, but whenthe pay and rates get that low its time to move on, shame though.
It seems that more and more now the only uk trucks I see abroad are those on specialist work, music, motor racing, removals etc.

Thought I’d give a quick update.

Do I miss euro work ? Yes an awful lot more than I thought I would.
However- I am now taking home more for mon-fri for about 55 hrs on car transporters than I was for 80/90 hrs over 7 days on a fridge.
It was a much harder transition than I credited, but after a couple of weeks training ( abject misery ) and a few weeks fretting , I am now getting the hang

Stick with it, takes a while but you will settle in to it.

Other than a couple of jaunts to holland last year I’ve been off euro work since end 2000 and I still miss it like mad. I came off it for more time at home with family and it was definitely the right decision for me. I gradually weaned myself off nights out all together and I will admit it took around 6 months to feel right with being home every night. Scary thing is I had to go back to nights out in the uk a couple of years back and slotted in to it within a week.

More money, more time at home, it’s a no brainier really. Won’t stop you yearning
for a boat though I’m afraid.

God luck anyway.

Cheers
Neilf
