COURT RESULT “Christopher WHITE of Brickwall Lane, Liverpool was given TOR for Lane Hogging in 2016. He requested court hearing & was today found guilty at Warrington Combined Court for Driving Without Due Care and Attention. Fines/costs of £850 & 3 points.
TORs offer the offender a driving awareness course if it was a first offence, or a court appearance on driving charges if they have previous offences on their record.
Good enough for the prick, let’s hope they do a few more but I doubt that will happen.
Some don’t realise they are doing anything wrong, they join the Mway, straight in to lane 2, and stick to it like ■■■■ to a blanket.
The worst ones are those who will not pull into lane 3 when you are wanting to overtake.
More proper policing by Police needed on this, instead of all this cops with cameras in tractor units ■■■■■■■■, catching you eating a ■■■■ Mars bar.

I totally agree they should be prosecuted however what about all the elephant racers hogging the middle lane. I presume you think they should be done as well because there are far too many at it.
Lol wow one case we know of, shame about the other 99% that get ignored because there is no police to deal with them.
This could be a self funded option, giving the power to fine drivers for doing so. I reckon at 100 quid fine in 3 hours on the M1 I could rake in easily 10K in a night in fines. Doesn’t even need to be a pull either these days. Camera footage and electronic fine sent in the post. Automatically no arguments. It’s the only way these idiots will learn.

And what about the elephant racers in trucks? Do they not count? I agree automatic 3 points and fine but it has to be for every ■■■ idiot.

Trucks have to overtake at some point. When you have been gaining on another truck and have to keep backing off then you have to overtake at some point. Plus the onus is upon the driver being overtaken to be prepared to slow down and let the overtaking vehicle pass. So yes police the dicks that hold you out because you dared to overtake them and then they get a rub downhill etc or have found another gear. If truck drivers learnt to be more polite to each other then we wouldn’t get elephant racing.
If a truck has caught you up at some point it was moving quicker than you and goes to overtake slow down a few clicks and let them in and vice versa.
Plenty of elephant racing by car drivers in the roadworks sitting there at 47mph as they don’t want to go over 50mph in all 3 lanes when there is absolutely no need to do so.
Bring on self driving vehicles completely cars trucks the flipping lot.
Pet hate of mine so you can imagine my surprise when myself and a colleague both took to the middle lane of the m6 passing two cars and a truck going slower than us going uphill. We were in the lane for half to two thirds of a mile and a traffic car went by in trap 3, with don’t hog middle lane and then pulled infront of us and slowed us right down with the message before speeding off and our speed had dropped.
The traffic cops around liverpool and manchester are utter bawbags so i dont believe a word they put forward in court.

No, you don’t “have to overtake” - the option always exists to back off a bit. If you can’t manage it by yourself, the “Adaptive Cruise Control” offered on many modern vehicles will do it for you. If you don’t have Adaptive Cruise Control, just set your regular CC to something a few km/h slower than your limiter - You won’t do much overtaking, but when the need arises you simply press the accelerator and move (relatively) quickly past before settling back to your preset cruising speed.

Not being funny fella but you have been driving trucks for 5 mins and by what you say you seem to have grown a biased towards truck drivers and an attitude against car drivers.
As someone else said, no you do not have to overtake especially if your speed is much the same as the vehicle you are passing.
Far too many selfish truck drivers doing this these days I am afraid.
I drove before speed limiters were introduced and in my book it was far better because some drivers now cannot anticipate when to overtake or not. Either that or they are selfish and just do not care.
Car drivers hog lanes but so do lorries and they all want prosecuting. Stop being biased.

Really driving trucks for 5 minutes?
I have been driving since 1995 driving cars to 7.5 ton trucks, passed my class 2 on 2003 and driven trucks for a living most of my life. Shunted for a year and a half and passed my class 1 last July.
So try again.
I have never said there isn’t a lot of bad truck drivers either, I see plenty but a great proportion more of car drivers by far.
22 years of driving for a living. So hardly 5 minutes.

There is a difference between overtaking a slower vehicle just for the sake of it when your not going to get last with relative ease and staring to overtake a slower moving truck that then gets its motion back and stops you from overtaking.

Lane hogging is when your not overtaking another vehicle and stay out in lane 2 or 3 or 4 and not moving left. Hence keep left unless overtaking. And the majority of people that do it are car van and taxi drivers.
Again 22 years of driving experience to back it up. But then again I’ve only been driving 5 minutes.

Take no notice of Dr Locum, the only thing hes capable of steering is a (empty) pallet truck…told him before…car drivers that way…yo…
