Ok, Simcor I will put it another way. 5 mins compared to me. I passed my HGV test in the 70’s in a proper truck, 
I am not disputing a lot of car drivers do that but a lot of truck drivers elephant race which is just as bad if not worse.

Plus the onus is upon the driver being overtaken to be prepared to slow down and let the overtaking vehicle pass. If truck drivers learnt to be more polite to each other then we wouldn’t get elephant racing.
If a truck has caught you up at some point it was moving quicker than you and goes to overtake slow down a few clicks and let them in and vice versa.

Not being funny fella but you have been driving trucks for 5 mins and by what you say you seem to have grown a biased towards truck drivers and an attitude against car drivers.
As someone else said, no you do not have to overtake especially if your speed is much the same as the vehicle you are passing.
Far too many selfish truck drivers doing this these days I am afraid.
I drove before speed limiters were introduced and in my book it was far better because some drivers now cannot anticipate when to overtake or not. Either that or they are selfish and just do not care.

An idea would be to limit a truck to 70mph, keep the speed limit as it is 60, and then you have a bit in reserve to overtake.
On the other hand a zero tolerance and a heavy fine for the dicks and teararses who e/raced at 70 over 2 lanes, and for those who saw 70 as a target and sat on it perpetually all day…a fortune could be made.

It’s a difficult one. I remember the first time I drove a truck with a limiter. OMG I thought the throttle cable had snapped or someone was braking for me but then you learn to adapt.
Some obviously do that while others could not give a ■■■■ or have no anticipation skills.

Being overtaken. If a driver is trying to overtake you, maintain a steady course and speed, slowing down if necessary to let the vehicle pass. Never obstruct drivers who wish to pass. When i’m gaining on the truck in front,I pull out nice and early,and then power past.
Pull well clear,move back over…and resume.
