Here is Arthur Pooley’s ERF driven by Mick Lomax. This wagon was new to Fleet Haulage of Ribchester as a tanker. Arthur bought it off Sid Hartley local truck dealer as a chassis cab. It was sent to Shay Lane ( the Brain of Britain) N.L. Walling Longridge, where I worked at the time to have a flat made to take the cattle body. Later on in its life I put an Eton two speed back axle in and converted the 150 to a 180 Gardener. The wagon infront of the ERF , just in the picture is Arthur Pooley’s F86 driven by Colin. The 86 is resting in a yard at Barnoldswick. I don’t know where this photo was taken or when.

before and after
I remember Wm Berry having it from new. Alan Proctor bought it and the business which ran out of a garage down Greenside in Ribchester. They would never think about letting wagons use that lane these days. I knew you had bought and restored it back to its former glory, where is it now ?
" Catterall Ketch II " was the chosen name for W.H. Holmes` 4 wheeler Volvo F 86 .
This photograph was kindly given to me by Bill Gibson.
I can remember the Leyland Comet of Bill Berry`s , then Alan Procter.
Am I thinking that this Leyland appeared at Kirkby Stephen Rally , then was sold to a buyer in Ireland ?
Cheers, cattle wagon man.

Hi Cattle wagon man, it’s funny but both Bill Gibson and Alan Proctor are distant relatives of mine on my fathers side. Will try and find out more and let you know. Ian Bagot
Here is a bit more trivia!! The Sed Atk was Arthur Pooley’s. Edmund Brewer picked me up on a Friday night after work and we set off to Tiverton. At midnight Ed said to me it’s your turn to drive you’re 21 now. Nest services HGV l plates went on and off we went ,the rest they say is history!! That was my 21st birthday, the best birthday I ever had.
Three months later after passing my HGV I was driving the Merc for Prestons of Chipping ( see M8 not only you drove Mercs). This wagon had split rim wheels with 1200 tyres. It was very high geared. Ok on the flat at 32 tonnes u.s. on the hills like most Mercs, but very nice to drive once you got used to the big steering wheel.

Hi lance,
Good 21 st birthday tale was that merc a 1626
i never knew you had a stint driving a hitler’s revenge
Regards andrew.
Here are 2 more of these common Lancashire Scania 141’s. The X reg was new to Harold Cartmell. It was one of the last 141’s and was more expensive than a 142 at the time with all its extras like factory fitted night heater, headlight wipers and parabolic springs all. To pull round a single axle box trailer delivering tin foil trays for chinese take aways. Paul Edwards now owns this 141 and he told me at Gaydon last year that the cab has just about rotted away, but he says he has a new one to put on when he has time. This photo was taken at Dorset steam fair about 12 years ago, where Paul told me he had found it in a truck dealers yard and had been running under the name of Blackbeard transport. round

the 143 that in the backround of one of the photos ■■ not mine, no interest in them tbh,too many of them here blinged up,a 143 topline steel bumper would float the boat, but sick of looking at streamliners
as to the 142,my arm could be twisted !!! maybe !! to send E400 EHG back across the water to it’s original owner, send LB on a daytrip to ireland(newry area) and see what i’ve done and gathered for to finish it,i could even have enough bits to sort out E401 as well…
OK E400 will talk to LB as he cant get on trucknet at the moment
I know exactly what you mean E400 EHG! Does this float your boat!
Now back on Trucknet!!
