L reg Mornflake Scania

I got left standing still today by an L reg Scania 6 wheeler belonging to Mornflake on the M25 today. Has it been restored or just in incredible condition? Very smart truck.

Mornflake only actually own 2 trucks both FH12s with reg numbers…OAT1 and 1OAT

The rest are owned by hauliers just painted in their colours.

I work for Cooper Buckley and we run all the artics from Mornflake apart from the two mentioned above.

There are two other companies that run the smaller 4 and 6 wheel vehicles.

IIRC there are 5 or 6 L reg Scania 93s all are extremely well looked after and are either restored or in good nick anyway. Theres also a couple of newer Scanias and a couple of Dafs.

I beleive it was one of these that left you standing…0

surprised to see 2 of these Scania’s on the A500 yesterday! very smart

Is this firm anything to do with those from Haslington way who were still running a Y-suffix ERF eight-wheel powder tanker until not that long ago, and may still be?

See the Mornflake motors on a regular basis, very nice looking and a treat to see them still hard at work,

Another I see fairly often is a yellow M reg Scania pulling a powder tank - can’t remember the name on it

Or me but it’s from Rugby .

Transportomatic have packed up I think :astonished: There yard used to be full of old Merc bits cabs etc
I like seeing the older trucks still working :sunglasses:

There is an aggregates firm in Armscote which still runs at least one old Mercedes rigid tipper - one of which is an L-reg four wheeler, seen working within the last couple of weeks.

Saw the yellow streamline Scania with powder tanker today on the M1. Can’t remember the name though.

Crowsons Poratoes still run old Scanias, but I saw a new Daf LF of theirs last week. Hopefully not a sign.

that would be walshe’s from haslington , they used to run a small fleet of foden tippers . that is the second chassis that tank has been on , they believe in value for money .

^^^ he causes chaos on the A515 raceway doing 40 mph ,queues of lomas lorries for miles !

Went past ’ L500 OAT ’ in Stockport today. It looked in great nick.

In Dubai for a few days and am a bit “surprised” at this flagship Gulf Emirate’s truck fleet. A mid 90s tractor unit seems about average here. Plenty of Volvo F10/12s around with the factory wavy silver stickers still on the sides. Not an expert but some look easily mid 80s from memory. Lots of Mk1 FH as well.
M-B sk series also plentiful, same kind of vintage as Volvo’s.
Would be interesting to find out if it’s a local dealer thing or if Volvo and M-B of that era were just very hardy trucks?
I suspect the latter. All good natured abuse accepted, that probably rules out the Scania faithfull [emoji41] , it is ■■■■■■ sunny here!

That’s Webbs. They’ve got an L reg SK 6wheeler that carries almost 17t (almost the same payload as an 8wheeler). They’ve got an R reg Merc 4wheeler and they did have an F reg which only came out when really needed. They stopped buying new once the Atego came out as Webbs like to repair stuff themselves.

Speaking of older, rare motors I saw Garn’s old Turboliner in Spalding a while back. Had to do a double take as he pulled her off the bay. Something different to the 3 series and F10/12’s.

Shouldn’t these be operating somewhere in Nigeria !

overtook ‘L70 OAT’,a Foden,yesterday

The 93 Scanias are still going strong and have even had exhaust conversions to comply with the LEZ !
The owner also has several restored vehicles on the show circuit.

Loved my old 93m when on the multi drop (M329 ERP)…5 speed box, went like stink… Even more when ‘we were told’ by some bloke, in some pub, in an area I weren’t to familiar with (wasn’t he mentioned here a few weeks back?) that all sorts of mystical speeds could be reached if the fourth fuse from the right ‘happened to blow’! Unfortunately, when it did, the ■■■ lighter didn’t work!
