L reg Mornflake Scania

I got left standing still today by an L reg Scania 6 wheeler belonging to Mornflake on the M25 today. Has it been restored or just in incredible condition? Very smart truck.

They seem to have quite few old lorries, all well kept.

Maybe it’s just company policy to take care of them instead of bying new ones all the time?

The another similar company is Transportomatic, but their looks much less fresh…

Theres some pics of their fleet on the photo forum “Old girls still working…”

Mornflake only actually own 2 trucks both FH12s with reg numbers…OAT1 and 1OAT

The rest are owned by hauliers just painted in their colours.

I work for Cooper Buckley and we run all the artics from Mornflake apart from the two mentioned above.

There are two other companies that run the smaller 4 and 6 wheel vehicles.

IIRC there are 5 or 6 L reg Scania 93s all are extremely well looked after and are either restored or in good nick anyway. Theres also a couple of newer Scanias and a couple of Dafs.

I beleive it was one of these that left you standing…

I knew someone on here would have the answer.

It’s unusual to see a truck this age still working, let alone looking as nice as that. I think it was L40

They do work hard 8wheels, they based in Crewe but run as far as Cornwall, Kent, and Scotland.

I remember reading an article about one of there subbies in the mid 90s who used to buy older trucks and refurbish them and at the time was running b series erf’s and leyland Clydesdales and had just updated to a leyland freighter so could possibly be the same company.

I think it is the same company kr79, although I only started with them in 2000, so not 100% sure,
I usually see the trucks owner when working over the weekend (he loads the trucks for his drivers at weekends) I’ll ask him.
I know he does the odd export or two and IIRC is currently restoring a 112 Scania for showing

there a nice fleet and them old scania’s can be tweeked to leave everything standing  the transportmatic fleet look like death traps on wheels the other company that seems to run alot off old motors is p m transport at liverpool, Must like the old ways and not want the fancy new motors.

james leech has (or had) about 5 wagons on for mornflakes, one of them a scania 93. him and his son bought the motors and fixed them up and resprayed them in mornflake colours as well as a load of classic wagons he had on the go. jim was a decent bloke when i worked for him, if you was in the yard at night he would take you the pub up the road and refuse to let you buy a pint. had some good times as a newbie driving a leyland constructer for him in 2004…

think james has retired now wirralpete, was Bob his son, that is the same company AFAIK Bob is the boss.
Nice bloke, most of his drivers have been there for years.
