BAILEY:
dave your list could go on and on yes there is sitituion,s where these could happen a stone could flick from your tyre,s

Yes BAILEY my list could go on, so you’re spot-on.
I also think you’re spot-on with your comment about a stone that could flick up from your tyres.
In fact, this happens many times every day. However, that isn’t a deliberate act, so that’s the difference.

BAILEY:
do u see where i,m going the list your saying is worst case,s none of these did happen so no harm done

BAILEY, my point is that the guy in the video is deliberately hitting the cones with no regard to any possible outcome. So my three questions still need an answer, because your attempt at introducing something that happens by chance to deflect attention from deliberate numptyism hasn’t worked.

This is actually quite simple BAILEY. If the guy doesn’t hit the cones, then nobody suffers damage or injury. OK so far
If he deliberately hits the cones, somebody might suffer damage or injury, because the guy has increased the risks.

So BAILEY, you’re innocently driving your car, then this guy comes along and hits some cones, then your car suffers some damage.
Can you at least see the possibility
IF that happened to you, what would you do next

sorry OSK you’ve got your quoting muddled - I didn’t write any of that :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

It is nice to see so many professional HGV drivers on this site condemming his actions.

The guys that risk their lives everyday to put out this type of traffic management do so to keep all of us safe on the roads. Time and time again they are driven at, sworn at, have bottles of p.iss and worse thrown at them and frankly it’s nothing short of ignorant.

I am one of your much hated ā€˜HATO’s’, i am also an ex police officer. Every shift i see muppets like this driving on our roads. Almost every week i get abuse from drivers because i’m doing my job.

As a result i had started to question if i really should be doing this job. Having read your comments and having seen for myself some of the support i have started getting from HGV’s ie when putting on rolling blocks, i will be staying put.

My faith in the majority of HGV drivers has been restored. So lets not forget that this P.R.I.C.K!, is still in a minority.

Just like someone else has already said, We all want to go home to our famillies at the end of the day. That is those of us that have a life of course.

I will take this opportunity to thank those drivers that make my life easier out on the roads.

Stay safe

So then Cheekynuke, will you please explain to me & probably every other user of this site why you HATOs keep closing lanes of motorways for the most insignificant reasons? Not a personal attack on you as you are probably working to strict guidelines, but why, oh why do you close 2 miles of inside lane for a car with a puncture, parked correctly on the hard shoulder? Also what are the tin foil blankets all about? :smiling_imp:

oh and while ya there on the email, phone or whatever means ya have to grass

I am never sure abaout this definition some people have about being a ā€˜Grass’

If you see someone endangering another persons life and you tell the police - ie ā€˜Grass them up’ is that a bad thing??
If you see a child being abducted do you keep quiet about it as you dont want to be a grass?
If you see a burglar climbing through your neighbours window do you turn a blind eye as it is not nice to ā€˜Grass’

People who use the expression so freely are usually the sort of person who needs to get a life and spend some thought and consideration on decent law abiding people instead of covering up for the low lifes out there.

My god! If i had enough cones to close off 2 miles of carriageway i wouldn’t be fit enough to put them all out.
You should always bare in mind that you may not always be aware of the full picture. You may think you know what’s going on but the situation you see may be very differant to what’s actually happening.
I have no idea why you have seen HATO’s close off 2 miles of carriageway for a puncture near a hard shoulder. I have dealt with many jobs however where i have to close off lane one in order to protect a tyre fitter from being killed by the very people that this thread highlights. That is a tyre fitter who is repairing an offside tyre of an HGV that 8 times out of ten has a defect in a tyre the driver hasn’t bothered to check. If i had my way i would have every HGV dragged off the motorway at the expense of the company who operated the vehicle. This serves many purposes. Firstly i wouldn’t have to risk my life, the fitters life or the HGV drivers life by staying any longer than is needed in a dangerous position. Secondly it would free up the carriageway so that no lanes would have to be closed.

As for the turkey basting wrap you highlight, it is simply a means of keeping the punters warm. It becomes very cold out there on the h/s and they do work well. However, they do nothing for your street cred

I totally appreciate your questions are not a personal attack. Thank god! I get enough of those.

HI cheekynuke, WELCOME :grimacing:

That’s an excellent point mate. We’ve had a few threads on the subject of HATOs,THIS LINK TAKES YOU TO AN EXAMPLE :grimacing:
:open_mouth: There’s 3 pages of it. :open_mouth:

cheekynuke:
I am one of your much hated ā€˜HATO’s’, i am also an ex police officer. Every shift i see muppets like this driving on our roads. Almost every week i get abuse from drivers because i’m doing my job.

If you read the link I gave, I think you might realise that the vast majority of us actually appreciate what you guys to to help keep us safe.

cheekynuke:
As a result i had started to question if i really should be doing this job. Having read your comments and having seen for myself some of the support i have started getting from HGV’s ie when putting on rolling blocks, i will be staying put.

Thanks for that mate, it’s much appreciated.

:grimacing: Thanks for the kind thoughts mate, thankfully there are only a very small number of people who deliberately drive so badly.
 I wonder whether his fan-club will chip in to pay his fines when he’s eventually caught

:bulb: Hey, now there’s an idea; ady1 can speak for this guy in Court, help him with his explanation, and tell the Court to ā€œlighten-up.ā€
 With any luck, ā€œour heroā€ will get sent straight to jail. :smiling_imp:

Point taken about not seeing the whole picture, that’s normally because I always end up at the back of the queue, by the time I get to the scene of whatever it’s usually gone & in the case of an RTA the insurance has probably paid out! reminds me I must sort that alarm clock out!

I suppose your game is no different to ours, some good, some bad, only trouble is no-one remembers the good ones :sunglasses:

Thank’s diesel

I’m sure all the supporters of this kind of luncy will be the first in the que to help pay the fines. I wonder also if the same people will be first in the que to offer their condolences to the families of those killed by that very same standard of idiotic driving that is displayed in this film.

As for newmercman, i hear you there mate. Every job has it’s lemons as we can see in this very thread. It is a shame that we all get tared with the same brush. I have lost count of how many times friends mention to me about the standard of driving displayed by truck drivers. As always i point out that not everybody is the same and that like HATO’s most drivers are very professional and care about what they do.

Like all of you guys i work to make a living and nothing more. I rely on YOUR professionalism to keep me alive everyday i’m at work. Luckily for me that is the majority of you. On the flip side i try my best to help the public when they need it and to keep the traffic flowing where i can.

Yeah ā€œCoffeholicā€ you are very likely spot on with that statement as it does appear when you look at the film again it does seem to be that way :unamused: :unamused:

He’s now removed all his videos of stupid antics! including the mud ones!

Might be too little too late as I know for a fact copies were downloaded from YouTube a couple of days ago and forwarded to the police.

Deserves all he /she gets from the ā€œPlod & Badger Billā€ and should be banned from driving for good.   :imp: :imp: :imp: :exclamation:

Funny you should say that mate. I too know for a fact that certain people have taken an interest in this thread and the videos that had been posted. It shows the mentality of these people if they think they can post dross like that and get away with it.

They are a disgrace to the professional people that mostly frequent this site.

Interesting…
Probably the idiot was on here wondering if he was going to be the star of Trucknet.
Came unstuck didnt he
Would like the know the outcome if the police manage to press charges.
