One more, Dads is behind this one

Good pics Jarvy, does you Dad know a guy called " Accot" cant remember his christian name, think he still works for David Lumsden and has done for years

Haven’t really spoke to my Dad for a few years but I recall a driver that I think may fit the bill.

A couple of Kent companies here. Love that C-series!

ERF-NGC

Some Kentish hauliers here, including Henley. I didn’t know Turks had two ERF 5MWs. Perhaps a stall at the Kent Show?

There were plenty of ERFs in Kent!

I drove those A&RJ Wood Mercs for a while

Ref Young bros pictures, I drove the Volvo F1017 JLB505V from nearly new on M&S Shipping until M&S made the four of us redundant, the four F10s then went on to Nuttals Grays, Nuttals took all four drivers but this only lasted a few weeks until Young Bros took them over, I spoke with Youngs but drivers not required, The trucks did not belong to M&S the were owned by Truxhire at Brixton
.
Lots of sniffy dealings going on then, Drivers ■■■■ on from a great hight, M&S Shipping was a great company to work for, even offered the drivers chance to go owner driver, using all the facilities the company had, permits ect ect, 99% of work was over the water, drivers voted not to go OD, I quite fancied though.

Youngs phoned me a while later and I did a trip in an old 89, only one though,

I know you posted this 12 years ago but worth a try. If you have an album of the A & R J Wood lorries going back that far, my wife (Alf Wood 's daughter) and I would be fascinated to see it. I worked with Wood"s from 1973 and ended up running the A Wood side after the family split up and sold to Albert Fisher plc, nouht it back in 1999 and also ran Portway for the last few years of its existence. Still own the Wood’s site at Detling.

An odd thing about that logo, i originally chose it myself because it was modern, and easy to use on letterheads etc… When my wife and i bought the A Wood company back in 1999 our solicitor used an off the shelf company, Mildview and we intended changing the name but didn’t because my wife noticed rhat if we turned the red and blue AW logo upside down it represented MV so we kept the name in case we ever needed a logo, which we havent yet. We later sold the transport side of the business to WRM Transport who had bought the RJ Wood business before it was sold to Fowler Welch.

Here’s one of yours I drove when I was doing a bit of casual work. Adding axles to 4x2s was all the rage to keep up with the new 38t limit!

I remember Hirsty’s Army. I drove for him when I moved to Hoo from Sussex. Firstly at the yard in Snodland, where the new warehouses and McDonalds now are, and again later when he moved to Medway City Estate. I drove the old MANs there and then the P-cab Scanias that were just white. I have a some photos in an album somewhere. I think it was around 1993 or 94 that I moved up there. I remember a couple of drivers, namely Robbie (Tong might have been his surname?), and Badger too. If you are the Mark that had the Volvo estate cut down to a pick-up, I can picture your dad’s face, but sorry, my memory is crap with names.

As we hit the second week in December I wish seasonal greeting to one and and all.

That’s interesting, but you might have to repost the picture so we know which one you are referring to!

Who remembers A&RJ Woods’s Fodens then? Buzzer posted this on another thread:
