Conor:
Someone on the loading bay is in for a bit of a bollocking if that was a Tesco RDC.
It looks likes a Tesco store.
You do have to wonder how he’s managed that. Even if the straps had come off since he left the RDC, surely you’d notice the cages were loose when opening the doors?
My assumption was that the truck is on a slope, and the driver released the restraints without considering the consequences of all that weight wanting to come out and play…
Where the driver and Tossco bod are stood appears to be dry where the truck was before it started raining. It looks like the driver has drawn forward for some reason without securing his cages.

Really, looks soaked to me. But the concrete does change there, and appears to be a seam.
I’m suggesting it’s on a slope, as the cages in the background against the cream coloured wall appear to be getting taller compared to the seam line in the wall, suggesting an uphill slope!

But why would you undo the straps, or even enter the trailer, before backing onto the bay?
eagerbeaver:
If that was the case Glen, the driver has done bloody well to escape serious injury!
The fact that BOTH doors are secured open surely means that is not the case.
It could be that they didn’t fall out until he moved after opening the doors.
Other possibilities are that he has parked on the bay, taken off the straps, then moved the truck for some reason.
Either that or he is on a multi-drop route and hasn’t secured the rest of his load before pulling away from this drop.
My money is on he’d done store delivery and was pulling forward to taillift empty/refuse cages on and hadn’t secured cages back that he’d had to move to get to frozen on headboard.
Evil8Beezle:
I can’t see from the pic whether the trailer has a tail lift or not. So can’t be certain it’s backing onto a bay or not…
And I can’t help having a good eye for levels Beaver!
Going by the lines on the floor I’d have said it was a bay and if it isn’t the tail lift is right down on the floor so there wouldn’t have been anyone in it at the time
and yes I am bored. It’s been ■■■■■■■ down here for days

The yellow line that the truck is lined up with means it will have been it was using a loading bay, whether there was a tail lift on the trailer or not.
I think it’s most likely that he has pulled off the bay and not secured the cages for the remaining deliveries.

Quite possibly, but not a certainty…
However it does absolve the driver from blame, as I would assume the loading/unloading staff should have been responsible for ensuring the cages were re-secured.

At a store, I doubt it?
If it was a multi-drop run I think it would be the driver who is responsible for ensuring the correct cages are unloaded at the correct store, and loading returns on afterwards.
No, it wasn’t me, but I have delivered to Tesco stores on loading bays, without having any cages falling off.
Glen, what is the name of the company who has the purple trucks that do Tosco demountables from the railhead in Inverness up to Wick, done it for them a couple of times but can’t remember ? Ta

Agreed. With tesco at least, it’s usually/always the driver who unloads cages onto tail lift or onto bay, then the store staff take them from there.

It’s John G Russell who operate the railhead in Inverness and do the Tesco deliveries on behalf of Stobart.
