Saw this on twitter earlier so thought I’d put it out for ya’s

Since when did truckers have a daily mileage allowance and what is it?

600 miles (assuming your truck is old enough  ).

I love the phrase ‘kitted out with specialist crime fighting equipment’ - makes me think of a combination of the Batmobile and KITT, rather than a HGV with a few cameras…

Puzzled as to how a unit with no trailer or load is going to have any effect on deterring crims from stealing vehicles or loads.
Why not be truthful. It’s only purpose is to catch drivers on the phone etc.

Agreed - I can’t really see it being parked up in some remote layby overnight with a load of old bill hiding inside waiting for the local do-as-they-likeys to show up.

Just how much out of touch are the plods :unamused: I’d be interested to see how many serious crimes that solves !

It blends in with the scenery - just like using an unmarked spotter car only better suited to truck parks and laybys. Your average thieving scrote can spot a marked patrol car from a mile away, and an unmarked car from 100 yards. Even a plain car is pretty obvious as soon as it pulls into a lorry park and starts cruising up and down the lines of parked trucks. What better to sneak up on the scrotes than an anonymous tractor unit? Or simply park up in a likely spot and wait for the scrotes to appear, then call in the cavalry to catch them red-handed.

but what self respecting scrote is going to taget a unit on its own.
OK they may have a go at the diesel but serious crime usually refers to hijacking the load etc, so how will a single unit without a load attract the seriouscriminal.

Just look out for reg GK60 OWZ(DWZ)

They wont they will target other trucks but that one will be there to catch them

Out to protect Hgv drivers this Christmas, from other drivers sipping a coffee or taking a bite of a chocolate bar…

In the mean time wasting fuel 10mpg at the most I guess on that?

Mind you, with enough 30/60 quid fines for catching truckers sipping fanta etc, they will soon be able to afford the fuel

They could of at least got a decent looking curtain sider to go with it, get a load of plod to sit in the back and catch the buggers red handed. But that would be too easy.

They wont they will target other trucks but that one will be there to catch them

no it won’t.
The plods in that vehicle don’t even catch the miscreants on the motorway, they rely on a following patrol car, as they work in a team.
So if thats the case, as well as having the unmarked unit in the MSA etc there will also be a marked car, which will scare the thieves away when they see it…
And is a plain unit solo in a MSA really inconspicuous , especially when the reg number has been publicised?
i don’t think so.

It’s just a load of propaganda to justify the targeting (rightly or wrongly)of truck drivers.

Yeah its his mate bob with a HD camcorder they’ve seized

Some one should post on there flickr what is the daily mileage limit?

bet that hitler, Angus Nairn will be the driver.

:open_mouth: :open_mouth: I can’t believe that some drivers on here actually BELIEVE the official PR bullcrap about truck crime :unamused: it’s simply thousands of pounds of taxpayer’s money spent to catch you eating yer Mars bar, next somebody will come on to say that Speed cameras are for road safety :unamused: .Anyway it’s good to see the Police are at the cutting edge of serious crime :unamused:

In the blurb below the photo it says that the CPMG will liaise with Truckpol. I bet they are on the phone a long time waiting for an answer :unamused:
