Heard a few times about them getting into trouble but just wondering if anyone knows if they’re all running bent?
Use to be very dodgy. Looks like they still are. Often see them pulled. I reckon they probably get caught when one is carrying the other, instead of putting both cards in and double manning the one being carried probably has his daily rest while being carried. Just a thought.
Some companies hit the radar brighter than others .
At the end of the day , it is the drivers responsibility to manage their own hours,
If the driver chooses to run bent -abuse the working hours regulations - then at their cost, so be it.
Not exactly rocket science is it
Trust me, if do what they do at the behest of De Rooy the drivers wont be paying a penny in fines
I met a couple of Brits on the boat in the past that worked for them, are there any left or are they all Easties now?
Used to be good money with the Rooij, paid every hour, don’t know if that has been changed.
If you believe all the stories they would be very dodgy, too high, too heavy, too many hours, but it’s probably a calculated gamble.
If of all your 1000-1500 trucks 10% get caught, than on the total your still on a winner.
When the Ford Marverick was build in Spain, de Rooij use to collect them, and load 1 car to much on every truck, being much to long.
Less than 1 in 10 was caught so 90% brought an “free” car back.
In the past drivers use to complain about brakes and the old de Rooij use to shout, we pay you for driving not for braking, and the trains have been braking with metal on metal for centuries! (don’t know if true but that was the rumor)
There are millions of stories about the Rooij (and probably some of them are true) but if your gaffer get caught with a Dakar truck going down the slip road in Nieuwegein and up on the other side to miss the traffic, doing close to 100MPH, on his way to the Rai in Amsterdam, than what can you expect?
It’s proper old fashioned work, but they go anywhere, so that has its charms. (and remember Dutch have no point system on their license)
Most of their motors you see now are Polish registered.
There was that bad accident a couple of months ago on the M6 at j16 when one of their motors had another one topped and the trailer fell off in front of another truck.
They were given a UK O licence by one B Bell a few years back, having previously been banned from operating in the UK.
She reasoned that they were coming here anyway, and a UK licence at least gave some leverage when it came to enforcement.
It is worrying that the UK’s leading truck manufacturer is so happy to use them…high time we had consignor liability in the UK.

Is not that strange as when 1993 Daf went into administration De Rooij bought the whole part distribution and financed a part of the restart.
Daf owes De Rooij more than the other way, De Rooij has always been very loyal to DAF and supported them through the dark times.
Don’t forget that “UK leading Truck Manufacturer” a depot was and is from DAF (now Paccar) where they mainly assemble trucks.
That explains a lot…
On a different note - it is pretty impressive how some of those motors are loaded -
That takes some working out to get some of the vehicle combinations on that they get.

Saw that mi sen earlier today.
And Hampshire Police have just nabbed another 2 of their motors.
Sound like they are most defiantly on the radar now.

I believe another wagon and drag hit it, Tuffnells I think. I bet that was one hell of a mess.

Good point. Is this not the case also in this country that if you let a vehicle over the weighbridge and out the gate knowingly overweight then you are also liable. Whoever uses DeRooy must stress adherence to the law.
Seem to remember a certain company from Ballindaloch losing United Distillers contract on some giggery pockery running. UD associated with law breaking didn’t go doon well. I stand corrected if needs be.
DeRoy of DeRovers was dodgy. No one scores that many goals AND gets involved in so many scrapes.
I saw 2 of their trucks pulled up on the hard shoulder of the m3 this morning with police pretty much surrounding them. Wondered what it was all about and the chaos it caused with the traffic too.

Fetched the cab off the Tuffnell’s.
Just seen on nw motorway police twitter feed that they have stopped a "foreign registered " vehicle transporter at thornham driver unlicensed therefore uninsured ! It couldn’t be another one could it ?
