Woo hoo

Professional PCV driver now  Proper multi drop that is,congrats shag!

Need some coaching now on the inside tips;
Saving fuel: to save fuel it is better to keep the vehicle moving as much as possible without stopping.
With forward planning you should be able to ascertain how fast a passenger can run when approaching a bus stop to allow said passenger to jump on and off.

…loads more fun if they THINK they can get on or off but the driver “accidentally” misjudges it.

Pete

Or that they expect to get off because other drivers let them yet you dont because;

A. That bus isn’t scheduled to stop there

B. The bus just stopped around the corner anyway.

C. An inspector is standing at the stop.

D. You’ve been threatened with written warnings for stopping at stops that you shouldn’t.

E. Your so desperate for a pee the agony is unreal and you’ve got to get to the terminus / bus station before leakage occurs…

Looking forward to ALL the above

Got threatened with a stanley knife because I didn’t let someone ‘just jump off’ at a road junction. Others I know have been attacked and physically abused. Thankfully the only time the molotovs we’re thrown they were incorrectly done and went out.

Been purposely rammed whilst sitting at lights yet have also been annoyed by bus drivers when out of the service, such as inconsiderate driving, signalling and not bothering with mirrors.

Sometimes better just to ignore the idiots as it would take too long to bury all the offending bodies

So Dar, you did your C then CE, so now you’ve done your D does this mean you get an automatic update to DE?

That depends if I get the idiot in DVLA processing my upgrade

At least they can’t ‘lose’ the A I haven’t got

Out on the road today with fare paying passengers. Plenty of mental blocks on the route. Glad I had a shadow.

The Almex ticket machine is ok when it doesn’t freeze.

And no major problems today. So all good. Definitely a steep learning curve but I’m sure it will get easier in time.

Indeed. I thought as much. Thanks for the update  Hope you’re enjoying the buses down there…

So I was on an outbound bus from city, to be returning dead and there were these girls at the back of the bus, more like young women that were investigating things with a long necked beer bottle, a camera, and along the back seats. I am sure you can guess what was going on, but I just concentrated on the road and all carried on as normal. At the terminus, it was a run back dead so once back in the garage I casually mentioned in the office where the CCTV chap also was standing and, the [zb] rushed off to pull the tape immediately.

The local fleet ran 7 different types and ages of buses that had 12 variants of CCTV camera and a further 5 different methods for storing the data. Assuming it was working…

Never trust or rely on those cameras and treat them if they are working even though when the [zb] hits you, the fan or the bus, they probably won’t be.

And if you have a copy of this CCTV tape… I’ll send you my mailing address .

I have learned the famous 3 letters today. CYA.

Several drivers have mentioned the same about the cameras not working when needed to back up their side of the story. Hmmmm :frowning:

When I was shafted there I was led to believe the CCTV was there to back me up, and therefore had no problem in telling the truth. However, it was only at the last instant I found out that there was no tape and what I should have gone with is ‘no comment’.

Oh, and my shiny green paper with pink plastic has returned lacking some qualifications :frowning: They’ve told me a 3w turn around time :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

[There is no smiling for beating fists against wall wailing so you’ll have to make do with this… :smiling_imp: :unamused: :smiling_imp: :unamused:  ]

Whats missing off licence that should be there ?

Whats missing off licence that should be there ?

de  ive got the d1e though…

Not unheard of that the de is missing, hope they are sorting it ok.

i was lucky my licence came back with the works, Started with car, then D, done C and CE and it came back with D DE D1E C CE C1E and a load of other letters i dont know, also took off the 78 restriction from my D

Every day is different, one day you will be raging at bairns, next you will hate OAPs. Like has been mentioned before, you’ll hate other road users and they will hate you… yet you have to just smile and get on with it. I personally think its brilliant  the things i have seen and the stories i can tell, also some belters of women doing the walk of shame on Sundays

No license back yet. Looked online and it has an unclaimed D pass on my driver record so someone has done something somewhere.

Last week was very monotonous route learning.

This week has been hands on with a shadow driver of 27 years.

I have been doing the ‘1’ rota with 4 routes. It’s the standard newbie start and then after 6 months probation you get to move up to other rotas.

All has gone really well. Just the odd hiccup with the ticket machine. The routes are coming together really well. No wrong turns yet. And very little prompting needed from my shadow.

Got a few days off over the Easter break and back in on Tuesday. Then I have a day off Wednesday. Then Thursday Friday Saturday and Sunday. No rest for the wicked

Best of luck to all those who are going through the process soon or in the near future. I hope my little blog helps.

Yeah, ticket machines are fun  I do recall doing a complete log off when I stopped at a bus station to enable me to nip out to the loo and the ‘shadow’ was surprised when I did what I did and took the module I had been assigned.

When I returned he explained that I could have pressed the shift-break buttons and then just removed the module!!! Saves me having to do a lengthy sign in all over again

Never mind. I am pleased they have decided not to rip your brain apart and shove in all 60 routes in one go. Good luck for learning them. Try and work out your own guide markers and if necessary write it down. Google Maps often help you to visualise the route as well.

Other mapping software could help you to create a tracklog of the route for you to overlay regular maps of the area, but these are all modern systems and options. I did the pen/paper/notepad route
