Just a bit of thought from truck manufacturers

What about those LITTLE things that they just need to think again about .My one is why do they insist on putting a logo on the streering wheel they must realise we use it to lean on when doing paper work. What’s your minor gripe?

Seats never go far enough back for tall people. I’m 6 foot 4 but can never get it far enough back so have to adapt to what is an unnatural position.

+1 +1 +1!

My gripe is curtains, with the flimsy rings. And the rail that has nothing there to stop the curtains coming off.
Lots of gaps and holes inside the cab ,where dust and dirt gets in.
Side door pillars that block visibility.

  1. Proper hand brake , not these silly electric one’s.
  2. Gear selector on the left hand side not on the steering wheel. lever not buttons.
  3. launch control, for getting onto roundabouts. Not the 4 second delay you get with MAN!

My view through the nearside mirrors…Nuff said.

That ones,s got to be down to poor adjustment I always thought Daf mirrors are ok

Have you bashed a tree?

Side window sun blinds should be fitted as standard. Also the front n/s window blind in MAN trucks cant be reached whilst driving. Any truck without a coffee cup holder should be considered a serious defect.

Even better at night when it’s pishing down and trying to reverse our artic (CF) blindside between 2 artics in a tight’ish yard and the only thing you can clearly see is the both mirrors illuminated by the 5 zillion watt bay lights, that always seem to be set at such an angle, the only thing they’re useful for is making a straightforward reverse bleedin’ 'ard work!

The Actros MP4 has a metal handle on the side sun blind which I’m always banging my head on when sticking my head back in the window after reversing :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

Electric front sun blinds… They take ages to come down… Better off having manual ones that you pull down yourself.

Buy a clip board for £1?

Cup holders that can actually hold a cup properly! The one used on the DAF LF with a three-seater cab is the worst – it’s shallow, and has a scooped bottom, so it holds a Coke can OK but a coffee cup will slide around and spill. The pull-out ones on MAN trucks are spring-loaded so they crush any can you put in them.

+2, glad to hear I’m not the only one:lol::lol:. MANs have/had 2 levers under the seat, I think 1 was for access but I used to lift the bottom bunk & push the seat further back, very comfortable:mrgreen:

Very probably mate - I cant recall having any issues with em before this one. Unfortunately ( :grimacing: ), im one of those lowly, unwashed agency dregs, and as such im allocated a lot of different units from day to day. Might have a tweak with it tomorrow before i`m given something else to drive!

No evidence of tree-based adjustment Muckaway, but something`s obviously amiss here!

Actrosman - totally in sync with your views on atrocious yard/loading bay lighting. There must be one installation team that travels around the country specialising in knacking things up!

The silly (non opening) quarter light windows on a DAF…
Lack of cup holder in a sensible place on a DAF XF, yes I know there’s one in the door pocket but when you close the door you risk losing coffee

The stupid wacking great blind spot with the drivers side mirrors on the XF. The Scania mirrors used to be good, being low down but they were messed with by that stupid wide angle required by regs. The turning circle on an XF is something they should be ashamed of. It’s rubbish. I wish there was an attempt to standardise the order that suzies should go in. Daf suzies always ended up looking like a nest of ■■■■■ after 1 run despite carefully sorting them before connecting.

Whilst I’m picking on XFs, the designers should sit in a Scania to see how to manufacture a main drivers side mirror that doesn’t have awful distortion through unnecessary wide angle on the main mirror. I mean, you already have a stupid extra wide angle anyway. Last place you want it is on the main mirror where you want a true representation of lines when backing up. Idiot designers. Grggh.

Was it the DAF that had a handy fold out flap in the middle of the steering wheel. Very handy except it was a bit flimsy and often got broken off.
