Bob.

Thats right Chriss. Tony Kent set up on his own and became A K in Ashbourne.I’am not sure but one way or another I think its gone now and is
■■■■■■■ with Longsons and possibly something to do with Lomas or Turners
Throwley Hall(Ilam) is quite a way from Sellars yard at the other end of the village and beyond.
I’ve just googled bonnie prince charles and it mentioned Ilam and Throwley hall (putting Ilam hall was wrong)it is Throwley where i worked.

Looks like my draft post is gone forever.
Another reason for Charlie turning at Derby was the lack of decent beer. The guys refused to march on without proper sustenance.Plus they didn`t want another hammering.
Changed days now,we used to go to Wembley but the home support from there never came to Hampden.
Passed a nice old TK on the M90 this morning, loaded.Dont know if he
s heading to a show or what.
Then noticed a mighty Scanny with the reg LPT 1,the reg is worth more than the motor.
I was going to ask the other day who this Gogar mob are that have suddenly sprung up.Quite often see convoys of artic tippers and now a brand new tanker. Finally dawned on me and a Google confirmed it that it`s Snowie in a new guise.
Lastly, are we going to have to have a whip round to get Jim back on line? A shillin for the meter perhaps?
Mark.

Aye,where is he,maybe he’s moved to a non-broadband area.Anyroad who shall I make the cheque out to Mark - I’ll make it two bob
If Charlie had gone home via the A61 from Derby he wouldn’t have had a beer problem.Tennants,Stones and Wards in Sheffield,Barnsley Bitter and Tetleys in Leeds.
hiya,
Always found a decent drop of stuff round Derby way it’s only a kick up the jacksy from Burton and they know a thing or two about beer, and remember a Double Diamond works wonders.
thanks harry long retired.
Harry, you can call Double Diamond a lot of things, but beer is not one of them. They used to have it in the Kaim Park at Bathgate which was my watering hole on the way home at one time.Decent pint one night and pee the next. Not different barrels though as it was delivered in tanks and they had a gantry and chain block for unloading them.
Come to think of it a lot of that beer you named is a bit watery.
D`ya think Chris could be persuaded to drop an old white fiver in Jims fund?

As they would say in Scotland,“I’m only a poor wee pensioner”,but if I could find a white fiver then it would go straight into Jim’s fund.
If you can loan me a tenner Chris I,ll give you the the fiver I owe you and I will give the other fiver to Jim to help with broadband connection. If it hadn,t been for venetian blinds it would have been curtains for us all.
Tha,s nowt but a cheeky owd tax evading renegade Chris, what makes you think we would get another beating you keep forgetting about Bannockburn tha kna,s

Last battle between England and Scotland as far as I’m concerned was in mid 70s,one saturday afternoon, when I was week-ended at Chapel Hall and Scotland won, thanks to little Jimmy Johnstone. There was me and a driver from Norwich surrounded by you bloody lot in t’cafe/bar and we were glad you won
I stood wi me back t’fire and got me bannocks burnt.

Chris, in you opinion what was the best lorry you drove during your career, excluding the steam ones of course, tha knows. Bob.
There was nowt wrong with steam as long as it were Yorkshire coil. The biggest problem was changing sprockets to get over Woodhead to Manchester
I liked nearly every wagon I drove except the Scania 81 - more action in a tramp’s vest, although heater and cab lights were ok.
I suppose when you were young and cab-happy owt would do as long as the money was there, but I still have an affection for the AEC MK5 Mammoth Major and Mandator.
Must go,got a Castletown and Ramsey trunk to do

The best game we ever won was the one in 1967 which made us unofficial world champions. And we won it with an independent ref.
Harry, don`t waste your time building bits of the wall. When we get independence there will be a whole new one being built. As foreign motors will not be allowed entry to Scotland, all trunks will have to drop trailers at the border to be pulled by a Scottish lorry.Obviously there will be jobs for shunters, but preference will be given to the Scots lads, although a substantial deposit of white tax savings could possibly swing it for some of the better looking ones. That of course may not be necessary as we will lay claim to the IoM which is ours anyway. On the other hand Scots courts take a dim view of tax entitlement manipulation.
I`d better go and get some work done.
Mark.
hiya,
Chris well it was all Hadrians (with a H) backyard when’t wall was built he’d cleaned t’lot out, Harry with a hhhh.
thanks harry long retired.
Harry, why was Hadrian,s wall built can thee tell me.
