Hi KK thanks for that . Yes my dad drived for Joints for about 15 years. He was one of the Shrewsbury drivers working on nights. He was there to when Joints packed up. There was cliff Ashley, Mick Glover,Adie, Wawrick, Geof etc . He really enjoined working there it was the longest he had worked for one firm . After that he went to Owens for a bit but it wasn’t the same and not long after he got lung cancer and passed away . I also used to work for Joint between 1994 and 1995 i used too tip the coils at Shotton ,Blackburn etc then load scrap at Manchester for the night blokes to take down too Port Talbot. Tony

Bloody hell now you are asking a question what lorries did he drive. When he first stared it was mainly old Merc lorries the old ng cabbed ones. Then because he was on nights it depened who he was changed over with. It was mainly the sk cabbed mercs from either 1729 up to 1735’s. He also drove one of the leyland daf trucks they had the old t45 cabbed one. Then it some p cabbed Scania 113 when he was the night man too warwick. Then there was the r cabbed 113 the sister too the one andrew has put on here. Then I think finaly it was the leyand daf cf cabbed trucks. I might have missed well I probably have missed a load of trucks he was there a long time and being on nights it could be any one.
Yes Walkers of Blackburn was one of the places I went also Tanks and drums , widnes etc then off to Shephards of Manchester too load the scrap bales. Tony

hi dennis,
how are you mate?i took this photo definatley during first two weeks of august, cause that was the only time of any year when so many tractors were parked there.this area was for loaded trailers usually.the first two weeks of august was a big shut down period for british steel and joints would have 80+percent of the fleet in the yard.
regards andrew.

hi cc,
thanks for posting that picture of f126 heading for the abbey with shotton scrap, joints motors did that run many times
.
regards andrew
Does anyone live in Radnorshire or is it just another name for “Camelot”? Anon.
Gentlemen, great photographs, really evocative, and bring back the memories. Joints tractors always looked quite tidy, but just like my very good friends, Roy, John, (RIP), and Clive Jones, (Adam Jones and Sons), their trailers always reminded one of the “AAs gently undulating road”, so bent were the side raves. Yet so many other hauliers on the same type of traffic managed to keep tidy looking trailers. Why so?? Cheerio for now.
