JOHN RAYMOND TRANSPORT

Smudge4262:
Sorry to resurrect but has anyone had any recent experience with this firm?

No. I had one 18 years ago, which was really bad. Looks like nothing has changed. If you need any employment, go for it. If you expect any decent treatment at all, walk away now.

OK, which yard did you work out of?

I was going to work out of Bridgend, on the Dutch runs. Told him I had to give a weeks notice to my employer, he said no problem, ring Monday about start times etc. Handed my notice in, and rang them on Monday. “Oh, we had someone who could start right away. Did you hand your notice in? Well, you’re first on the waiting list, so give us a ring on Monday…”

To call them scumbags would be unfair to scumbags.

Oh dear. That’s a turd sandwich of ever I did see one. I’ll be sure to keep my witts about me as that’s the yard I’m looking at working from. Pretty Jack move on they’re part with you though. Out of interest, what happened with you work wise after that?

The boss I was working for was a diamond. I called and explained, and he told me to forget about the notice, and carry on as it was, because he didn’t want me to leave in the first place. I owe a lot to Andrew Thomas.

I see. Thanks the advice anyways. Other than this firm I only have agency work lined up so I’ll keep bugging haulers in Bridgend and Surrounding to see if I get any feedback.

How far can you travel for a job?

I haven’t really thought about it to be honest. I’m just starting out so would probably push the boat out a little bit just to get myself started a least. I suppose within a 30 mile radius is about average but for the right job I’d probably go further

John Pearce in Glyneath are sound. Pay not fantastic, and a lot of old trucks, but I enjoyed my time with them, and left on good terms. They have a wide variety of work, days, nights, tramping, puddle jumpers to 44 artics.

Thanks mate, I’ll drop them a line

What - if any is the relationship between John Raymond and TDW. I was in Brigend last week and I see that TDW have raymonds old yard.

If you haven’t got something yet, Aldi in Cardiff are desperate for drivers. Call C&D Recruitment do the initial hiring.

Thanks mate.

I’m with Raymonds now but I have dropped that agency a line, just waiting on a response.

Im interviewing here .its now under Nolans transport .
Any one got any recent info .
Thanks

Every time I come up to a marked bridge I always check the height in the cab. I think its a good habit.

I keep seeing trucks getting pulled at QE2 for being in the wrong lane for their size and it slows everything down as vosa has stop traffic to pull him out.

The only info I have got is don’t work for Nolan Transport. That’s not from personal experience but from what I’ve heard over the years…

This. And that’s from personal experience. I wouldn’t go near Nolans again if they were the last employers left on earth.
