I was denied the use of toilets at a company in Hull today on the grounds of health and safety as they were a “BSCI” awarded. No,me neither. I understand that this may be a breach of HSE laws as they successfully prosecuted Bookers in Reading for this a few years ago, resulting in a £1000 fine.

Makes you laugh doesn’t it? They hide behind H&S and pretend it’s an issue whereas you might have a modicum of respect for them if they said something like "you are a lorry driver, therefore you are sub human and I will not allow you to mar our facilities ". You could always reinforce their stereotype by going and taking a dump on the bonnet of the MD’s car!

should have pulled up and ■■■■■■ against the wheel saying sorry mate I did ask!

Report them or inform a newspaper. Perhaps another ‘award’ will then follow!

It is illegal to deny you the use of or provide basic facilities whilst on their premises.

If was it before you opened up to start loading /unloading I would have told them OK I`ll pull out and come back when I have been to the toilet,or I will drop the unit off and leave you to get on with it until I get back

this attitude towards drivers makes me sick report this to there head office don’t let them get away with it they by law have to provide toilets

This ■■■■■■■■ about not be allowed to use toilets usually comes from little hitler security guards or forkies etc. Usually because they can’t be arsed having to ■■■■■■ you over to where they are, if not in a convenient location.

There were some instances at TJ Morris of drivers being refused the toilet & there is now a sign in security from management, along the lines of “I do not wish to hear of any instances of drivers pulling out of site due to not being allowed toilet access”. So looks like some drivers had some balls.

Are you sure it wasn’t Ronnie Pickering telling you to do one :sunglasses:

well said that’s the problem instead of just moaning about it DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT

BSCI…

“The Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) is a leading business-driven initiative supporting retailers, importers and brands to improve working conditions in supplying factories and farms worldwide.”

You should remind them what BSCI accreditation is all about. Not allowing a driver to use a toilet is actually a BREACH of BSCI accreditation.

Roughyed, they need embarrassing. Go to this page and select Peter Levy from the drop down menu. He’s the local BBC News Look North presenter and likes a bit of a story like this.

I intend to report this to the HSE when I get home.it can only be done online. It was the production manager that denied me the use of facilities. I shall take this as far as I can,and I did warn him i was reporting it to health and safety body.

did you get his name?

Was it a number one or a number two?

No, the person denied use of the said toilet - sued for discrimination.
To this day, it’s not actually legal to have an “executive washroom”… So they put locks on those doors, and provide crappy loos like this for the riff-raff visiting instead…

Horrible Toilets.jpeg

If that’s how the riff raff use a toilet then I’m surprised they don’t offer just a litter tray, How did that even happen? Did bloke/woman have a suprise extra ■■■■■■■■ emanating from their armpits?

Burnley, yes I did get his name and job status, and Eric,it was for both ,which I successfully delivered at McDonald’s up the road .

Blow me down winseer…i can see what she had for breakfast… i would imagine its a muslim what did the last one, they dont sit on the pan, they squat on the seat…hence the mound there…nontheless, its a total disgrace and i dont wonder companies dont allow drivers to use their nice clean toilets…i wouldnt either.

I had similar at a DIY store in bournmouth, but they quoted insurance restrictions as the toilets were upstairs,i replied not a problem fella I will just pxxs in the corner of your yard [which I duly did]no complaint was made to the depot I was out of so I assumed he was talking rubbish and he knew it

I have never been refused the use of a toilet, but some of the ones I have been directed to have not been fit for purpose, and that saying something. But I find often I am directed to a portaloo in the yard some where, as I was this afternoon. Some of these aren’t bad and are well looked after, but others leave a bit to be desired, soap and running water for a start. It can be slightly offensive as other places I go the toilets are so good I wonder if I should be using them.
