Noticed sum new ones sat in the vault on tues night
Im told (someone young who works there needed a start) they cant get and keep drivers - £8/hr. £8.75/hr if starting 2pm or later. £10/hr Sat & Sun. Rumour of £25/day bonus if you work both Sat & Sun but not if you just work one of them. Kit getting better but still not looked after - say they want all legal but not at Christmas! Trampers allocated wagon but it may nor be there when you arrive for work so you could end up with a day cab all week. Management like most in the game now - clueless and ex McBurnies apparently and ‘old school’? Advertise on the back of their trailers and sponsor low cost airlines apparently!
I know the guy personally and believe him so no reason to dispute what he tells me.
Good luck to those applying!
A company having an open day means only one thing, and that is they can’t get drivers by conventional means.
What does that tell you?
Ken.
Wages seen to be average tbh
But if you need a job it is better than nowt & will give experience if they take new / newish drivers maybe a stepping stone
Dont think I would like to tramp in a day cab ( unless they pay for hotel / b&b )

If you read replies you will see it has already been said that they cant get or keep drivers

Or not hitting anything as the case maybe
I was in the vault yesterday, kicked out twice, 1st time: wrong order number & 2nd: I was too early.
Then half the load was refused due to the fact the order was split over 2 trucks (24+21 pallets) they only allow 1 truck per order despite the fact when I rolled up the 3rd time I pulled up at the gate side by side with my mate, his 24 was accepted, my 21 was refused. He had the correct order No, mine was +1 digit. apparently they can`t rebook the load until March
However I did see the recruitment poster & did wonder

It’s illegal to do that.
All year round work? What does that mean exactly? You should be grateful it’s not a zero hours contract?

I have since been told that they are in fact ‘rest cabs’.

This is ‘normal’ in supermarket la la land apparently?
I think I’m beginning to see why there might be a driver shortage in the future when the young 'uns want to party when there’s work to be done!

That’s potentially why they’re having trouble getting drivers. The £8 basic is bad enough, working every weekend is even worse. [zb] that.

Cos it suits some people not to be at home over a weekend?
Friend of mine drives for a company, Thursday - Monday as he needs to be at home on Wednesdays. Suits him, suits his company (non supermarket).
Noticing all there units seem to be new now apart from the odd clapped out MAN floating about and newer trailers seem to be making an entrance onto the roads, shame the Speke DC is virtually new and looks like it’s 10+ years old with the way it’s looked after, loading bays look like they’ve had half the frames ripped off, transport office and goods in is a ■■■■ hole aswell
