I never really understand the Sunday bans, especially in countries like France and Spain where the roads are quite empty?
I do, it’s because they’re not slaves to industry and respect their population.
But are the truck stops not ramed full of stranded trucks and their drivers on Sunday?
There are Youtube videos showing drivers who are unable to find parking in countries like Germany before the ban comes in.
Newsflash! YouTube is not always an accurate and fair representation of real life!
Some places may be full early, (the best ones in busy areas) but as with parking anywhere a we bit of planning and forethought is helpful.
“No parking on Germany” would be a wee bit hard to believe for anyone, surely?
Sure You tube isn’t always accurate but I have seen this to be true in several videos so leads me to believe it is fairly accurate, of course if you have evidence to the contrary please feel free to present it.
I have never had a problem parking up for the bans, sometimes you have to make your own space and abandon it when parking near a border of a country with a ban in the free services.

If you go to Eire and work, after 5 years you can get residency and then get an Irish passport which gives you back what Stupid Brexit took.
That is what i said - which you choose not to quote completely - The point for the lad looking for a job, he can go and become resident in Eire, and after 5 years get nationality, get a passport and regain the freedom of movement we are now denied.
Can you get a job in Ireland doing international work anymore, given that we are only allowed to be in Europe half the time, 90 days out of 90?
A UK passport driver, working for an Eire company? How would they fare if working mainland EU most of the time?
Good question.
Maybe apply for an Eire Residency Card? It may not be a requirement under the CTA, but would give an Eire resident the right to move freely around Schengen.
I`m open to correction on that, of course.
EDIT Correction:
Sorry Ignore above
“an IRP does not allow you to travel to or live freely in other EU countries”
irishimmigration.ie/registe … ce-permit/
That won`t be any solution, will it?
I don’t understand why you think an IRP would be required/relevant? As you mentioned the CTA, that is all that is required.
Under the CTA, British and Irish citizens can move freely and reside in either jurisdi
on and enjoy associated rights and privileges, including the right to work,
I realise that doesn’t cover the exceeding 90 days issue.

I wondered out-loud whether an IRP would enable a UK driver to do International work without any 90 day issues? It doesn`t.
(A passport for an EU member state, gives rights of residency and employment in all member states)
(A residency card for a country inside the Schengen zone, however would give access into the Schengen zone, but not the right to work, or reside, in all Schengen countries. Residency and employment is only in the country issuing the card)
Just to get back on thread…
@O/P, …
Have you tried TSA (Transportes St Arnould) in France?
They always used to employ Brit drivers.
Not sure if they still do, in fact I was offered a job with them once when they had a depot in Leeds, that has gone now,.but they also used to have another depot in Alconbury, again not sure if they do now, give them a bell anyhoo.

…Well done…
…I`m speechless…
The last time I spoke to TSA, they were looking for drivers based in Ashford or Peterborough.
However, the salary was ok for France but very low with UK living costs.

Ok.
Terrific.
If I was remotely curious or interested as to why,.I would ask you to explain.
But I ain’t, …so I won’t.
This is the sort of cack you get off Frangers just because we never agree on anything much…he can’t take criticism nor an opposing view you know.

Just shows how things change eh?
I think it was about 2005ish I was in contact with them, the take home pay was virtually the same as my top line in the job I was with then.
But I went on for a Dutch outfit instead…big mistake at the time.

Very true. I only come and post on TNUK because I agree with everyone here.
Just rather surprised that you were recommending jobs with both Dutch and French companies.

Ok, but you do tend to go off on one, if and when somebody (namely me
) calls you out on your one or 2 obsessive subjects and topics.
So you think because I did not want to be ruled by the corrupt EU,.that I would not reccomend certain European companies,.especially when I have been employed by a couple myself in the past?
I have nothing against any European country, my own wife originates from one ffs.
My problem ain’t even with the EU, my problem was not even trading with the EU as it was in it’s original format, my problem was laws for my country being made and implemented by the EU with a the cluster ■■■■ of injustice, problems and shear expenditure that came with it…as you know, or should by now.
But pleeeease ffs don’t kick off another EU/Brexit debate
,.as I am merely clarifying my point that you evidently misunderstood…or chose to eh?

Bit of a waste of time though isnt it? Applying to get a job with an EU company? I don
t mean a UK job, that may be ultimately a foreign owned company. After all the OP wants Euro work, not shunting dropped trailers out of ferry ports.

That’s for him to decide mate.
Personally I couldn’t give a toss,.I was just making a suggestion to him to get into European work, either directly or through the back door.
Unless he’s your bezzie mate, you don’t know his circumstances, he may be a fellow Euro whinger, but with more commitment than you,.so is willing to move over there…who knows…who cares.
Whether it does,.or whether or not he takes my advice is his call.

Working for a Euro company, moving to Europe, would have been a good idea, a few years ago.
Nothing to do with being “willing” though is it?
He may well want to take your advice, and be an Economic Migrant, “moving over there”, but didn`t you realise free movement has ended?

Well you are obviously a well known on here, well read authority on all things Brexit and EU, so who am I to argue.
If I have gave the lad some wrong advice,.I stand corrected.

To be fair, the O.P. did ask about working for a company running to Europe, not running for a Euro company in the UK, nor about moving to Euroland. As Franglais points out, the days of working in Euroland are over, unless you can find a company willing to take you on the hobble. You got what you wanted.
Not having a go (btw, tbh, tbf), I dont really give a hoot either way. As a Dutch passport holder, with settled status in the UK, I trully have the best of both worlds. The increased wages because the free for all for East Euro drivers has ended, and the option to still move freely across Europe, should I wish to do so. Or indeed, when the good ship “Great Brittain” finaly slips below the waves…
robroy:
Yep,.which is why I admitted I could be wrong and stood corrected.
I just thought if everything else failed it may have been a way to get around it and get in through the back door… but there ya go,.as soon as an illustration of a possible hiccup caused by Brexit is shown, it is jumped on by Franglais like he’s jumping on a 50 quid note in a strong wind.
Oh btw,.you’re right I/we did get what we wanted as you say.
…much to the constant annoyance of the usual suspects on here, resulting in much amusement to the rest of us.
Oh,.and since coming from a Nederlander,.and speaking as a patriot, thanks for running down our country.
…it will take .more than a divorce from the [zb] EU to sink us below the waves, trust me.

Just to reiterate and clarify for the hard of thinking…
Well for someone who posts a lot on the Brexit thread, and is quick to poke fun at others, it is indeed fortunate that not everyone is the same as you. It would be truly humiliating if you were found to have failed to understand the very first thing about Brexit?
Just for those who may have missed it: No Free Movement.
Speaking as a patriot, I am disappointed for the next generation of fellow countrymen who miss the freedoms we had.
The ease with which we could get jobs abroad: ended.
Bringing spouses into the country freely: ended.
Speaking as a human being, I get no pleasure nor amusement at all from the unhappiness of others.
But never mind, I`m sure the problems others will have, because “you got what you wanted” (whatever that was?) will keep you amused for years to come.
Enjoy.

Hi, firstly apologies if this a repetitive type post or answered elsewhere…
I’ve been driving round the UK for sometime on artics, now ready for a change and would like to go across the channel.
I’ve been struggling to find jobs that will take me into Europe on the web, just seem to bump into UK based roles.
Anyone got either a company recommendation or a decent website to search for international jobs.
Many thanks, Rich.
(PS am ■■■■■■■ based but willing to locate for a decent option)
Try M&M Kerr at Castle Douglas, they do meat across Europe. Hayden Chilled also go across Europe. There are still a few running out of Larkhall with fish to BSM, Lorient, Rungis. They’re all close ish to ■■■■■■■■

Wasn’t aware that Brexit prevented us from ever leaving the shores of the UK and travelling into Europe. Thanks for clarifying.
