I also read that your interview has been put back, well same thing happened to me chap, twice ! I thought they were winding me up but I persevered and now I’ve just finished my first week with them. So good luck with the interview

yeh mate its been moved to next Thursday now at 10am lets hope he doesn’t double book me again and is in the right place at the right time! im giving them a chance as it looks like a really good job with a good wage! its actually driving for next but your employed by DHL doing home deliveries from online so osunds wicked.

Well I’ve done my first Saturday with this job, it fell a bit flat I only worked 07.20 til 11am. Had 3 deliveries and a collection, tbh I was expecting a few more hours than that , but there you go. Take what you get.
I’ve also been told by a colleague that we can only work 11 days in two weeks, so I guess I won’t be in next Saturday
Can someone shed some light on this for me plz, I guess it must have something to do with drivers hours. I’ve only been averaging 5 hours driving a day, the rest is other work?

Hi Dan, I think he is assuming you have been on full time working everyday max wtd or driving time. His 11 days in two weeks is vague. If I work for a company say Mon - Fri start 6am finish 6pm then I can do every other Saturday overtime. That is what he is saying but from what you say you are only getting slivers of shifts as and when required. All you need to do is count the hours that you have worked as I am sure you have loads left and will be able to work this Saturday. If you are confused just say to the agency that you are available as they will know if you can or can’t.

That’s a good question? Why would they pay me 8 hours, I only worked 3 1/2?

Because it is the norm Dan, I have worked for some terrible agencies and some have failed to pay me when I have allegedly broke the contract but if you did the job right and the client was happy and they send you home early you get 8 hours shift pay. If agencies start getting away with sending drivers 25 miles to a job for 3 hours pay they will end up working for nothing.

Oh right, I guess you have agreed to do short shifts then. I am after a full time job and I will do days, nights or weekends but I will not do nights out and up until now haven’t realised they are trying short shifts. If I got a job 25 miles away from home I would not want to go in for a 4 hour shift. In fact when I had my interview with Maritime two weeks ago the structure was 55 hours per week at £525 (£475 + £50 food allowance) and he said if on Monday you only worked 5 hours and then we sent you home you will still be paid the full 11 hours. If you then came in on Tuesday and you worked 14 hours we would still pay you 11 hours for Monday and 11 hours + 3 hours overtime for Tuesday.
I think you will find they have paid you for a full shift on Saturday

I know right you think im lying its not actually possible te DVLA doing something right but yes 5 days!

As for the interview sorry for jumping the gun, so is it this Thursday then? And the licence question is about the actual licence you handed to the examiner when you passed. (I assume you surrendered yours there and then?) I know about the CPC and DigiTacho cards, as I was impressed at DVLA’s turnaround on those myself. It’s the actual driving licence I want to know about. The guff states 3 weeks, but I want the real up to date info from the chosen one!

Wow I must meet this role model for life! yes its this Thursday 10am as long as it doesn’t change! I will keep you posted and let you know don’t worry I did not surrender my licence there and then because I had my cpc the following day so sent it off myself the day after and like I said only took 5 working days ! yes 5 !
My online licence states my entitlement is still provisional…
I didn’t even get chance to check my online status it was that quick! im sure yours will be back quickly you seem very egar have you done your cpc yet? are you doing class one and what job you looking at getting?
I’ve got everything sorted, It’s just the plastic card that is stopping me knocking on doors. So yeah, I wanna get out there!
As for work, I don’t care too much as I don’t want to set any real expectation. However, it’s safe to say I won’t be knocking on Bidvest’s, 3663, Brakes doors first! - But if that is what i have to do, that’s what I have to do! I’ll just tell myself i get a free gym membership as part of the job!
We will just have to wait and see what happens when i start knocking!
