£7.20ph is pish, & what happened to time & half Saturday’s double time Sunday’s? I don’t care how many “extras” you get that pay scale is very poor.

Decided against taking the job, £7.20ph is a joke i now need to forget about driving as a living spent enough time/money already jumping through hoops cpc etc can not believe there are people out there driving for what is just over min wage.
Well done mate, You listen to ■■■■ lickers on this site. Don’t forget to wipe your brown nose!
No point giving up now youve come this far? You either need to accept crap pay in return for experience, or get lucky somehow. Ive got around 5 - 10 contacts from working in the yard at work of places thatl take me on as a new driver on not too shabby pay for a newbie. Where you from?

Half baked [zb]wits need to realise this job does’nt pay £10+ per hour every job. Idiots come on here thinking as they’ve got a “C or C+E” licence, that makes them above Min wage rates wage.
Thankfully, idiots like this give us self employed guys a really good living.

But you are forgetting that you can work for 84 hours a week to bring your wages up to what most earn for 35 hours.

Great full for your advice, however I would need to increase my working hours significantly on that pay rate just to have a decent standard of living, I took your advice and contacted the depot to try and get info relating to ave pay etc, and up until yesterday when i contacted them to turn down the job offer I had received no information from them.
Ok no problem

Please don’t call me an idiot you don’t know me I don’t know you, I merely posted on here to get peoples opinions and advice. Thankyou.
As your from Barnsley there is I assume more than Stobarts in the area, and certainly some that pay more money. If you want to do a job that isnt run of the mill, doesn
t entail sitting a rdcs or being treated like ■■■ everywhere you go why not try for bulk powder tank work, there
s Gibsons, Damac,Seafields all within an hour of you.
Do not assume that everyone is on mega money because they are not, despite what you read on here.Jobs paying 10quid or more an hour are rare and never advertised, youve got to remember that you
ve paid 2.5k+ to get a licence for what is classed by the government as an unskilled job so is going to pay unskilled money. Also all employers know that it is a vocation that you choose to do, so can keep the pay rates down.

Hazelhead (between Flouch and Holmefirth, where Wavin are) have got R Plevin set up there now, they’re delivering recycled wood to the new powerstation in Sheffield (near Meadowhall), pay’s not too shabby there and the work is easy - ish.
dowahdiddyman:
an unskilled job so is going to pay unskilled money
Some driving jobs require much more skill than others and why is two years experience almost mandatory in job ads if its unskilled?
I did`nt have 2 years experience,when I first started
commonrail:

Neither did I! But plenty of companies quoted that to me! And a lot of them stick to it.
commonrail:

Nobody did!
Huge edit.
Pillock i am, only read the first page and then replied.
Good decision, if that was driving car transporters for that money, then the company will get the damage that goes with it.

Do you get extra money over certain hours? By this I mean, whilst at my last job, 40 hours were basic and anything over time and half… Or are they just on those flat rates??
