I don’t think it was as simple as that, this country had large asylums where people were basically left and forgotten by society, for many people it wasn’t treatment it was out of sight out of mind.
There was a belief that care in the community, would be better, and it might have been if the care services were there, but it seems in reality would be close asylums and leave people to fend for themselves in the community.
Please dont chop my statements up to suit your own ends or ideals, i genuinely didnt post for that reason i really did not !

While her murder is a terrible thing for her and to her family and friends I hope it doesn’t get the sympathy voters deciding to vote stay as that poor lass was in the remain group. Could we also not find a bit of sympathy also for the ordinary man or women in the street who has suffered and even died because of this governments cuts to the NHS and disability benefits cuts and refusing to pay for life saving drugs but for those there has been no outpouring of grief ?
Sad it is for those who knew her. her children husband and family. The whole country is mourning and they didn’t know her I never heard of her until she was killed. It is a tragedy for those who loved her just like any other human being who is murdered so horribly. but the media doesn’t go into overdrive.
But why the entire country is weeping I have no idea maybe I am just an old cynic but this seems to be the norm now I don’t get the mentality of strangers weeping for someone they probably never heard of either till she was killed. God bless her family and hope she is resting easy.

This touched me more than usual, a very sad loss for her family and this lady had so much left to give.
Her husband and children have been robbed of a wife and mother.
Regardless of motives, mental health the perpetrator of this disgusting crime should be put to death in a similar fashion.

Good point, well made. The individual who carried out this awful act is clearly very disturbed. It doesn’t follow that anybody opposed to eu membership is a “Britain First supporter”, a “Fascist” or a “White Supremacist”.
Awful that she was killed in this day and age, thoughts with her family. I do worry however that some remain campaigners may want to capitalise on her death to boost their cause. I’m sure some leave campaigners may have wanted to do the same if someone like Farage got murdered, whichever way it goes it wouldn’t be right, but may well happen anyway. On the other hand, her death itself may already have been enough to sway people, and if one was more swivel eyed, you might think she was a sacrificial lamb…

She didn’t get killed because she was a bleeding heart liberal, she was killed because there is a section of society who claim to be about British values but don’t like democracy, the rule of law and the right to an opinion. This section views and beliefs would be more akin to stalins Russia or ■■■■ Germany.
You cannot claim to stand for the country when most of the country disagree with you. If so you stand for your view of the country which is not accurate. I do beleive most Brexit voters are not far right nuts but there is a sizeable minority. This was an attack on democracy.
