I’m sure we would all like to offer condolences on the loss of a talented young woman and mother who was fulfilling her public duties. RIP
Agreed but the coverage was/is a bit OTT, it’s like no other news is happening…

As sad as it is couldn’t agree more why not leave the family alone, typical media they’re like Jackals, just you watch they are going to turn this political for the eu in crowd.
A tragic death and a waste of a life,so sad for her kids and other family.
As of yet there is nothing to suggest she was targeted because of who she was yet Sky news are running a story that MPs should be given extra security and I just don’t understand why they have to keep referring to her as “pro EU MP”…is her tragic death really any relevance to whether she is in favour of being in or out of the EU?!
Did Lee Rigbys’ death get this much coverage?
And no, I’m not being ‘funny’…

Yes it did and possibly even more than this. It just feels like this is given more because it’s happening now.

Of course it did for the first few days maybe 2 week after it happend due to the shocking nature of the crime what with it being an English squaddie, race hate, broad daylight in our capital city etc.
Would there have been this much fuss if the victim had been a mega rich, titled grandee of the Tory party ?
I doubt it somehow
RIP and sadly her children will grow up without their mother.
Very sad,

It’s difficult to say. The media has change much over the years. I reckon somehow that ANY MP being assassinated - would these days of mass media - get the same coverage.
Cast your minds back to this “Tory Grandee Assassination” for instance…

Agree with the sentiments entirely, a tragic loss of a young mother.
As to the pro-eu point, since the news is reporting that the police have found neo-■■■■ publications and paraphernalia at the suspects house, I think this is probably, and sadly, going to be very relevant in the long run. I suspect the outcome of his actions is probably going to be the complete opposite of what he intended.

Fair comment,I’d forgotten about that event TBH.
My main gripe,I suppose,is that the coverage of any “celebrity” death nowadays is way OTT.
The coverage of Ali’s death last week done my head in He was an excellent sportsman with charisma…END OF
This was an awful and shocking attack, as was Lee Rigby’s murder, the coverage of that event was massive as is this and I’m sure would have been the same regardless of the political party the MP represented. It’s what happens in these days of 24 hour news output.
Please forget the politics and remember this attack has left children without a mother and a family bereft.

A massive +1.
I agree with all the comments so far i really do,such a tragic waste of life with such a beautiful looking and obviously young woman and mother of young children ! But some party is guilty of this i just cant remember which one it was that thought that people with mental health problems would be better off in the community rather than in an institution of some kind, just another way of saving money in my opinion !!

Thatcher was who closed most of the asylums mental health hospitals around the country, (care in the community) which hasn’t worked out well for many , that’s the tories for you uncaring ,mind you the previous new labour ( aka tory lite) were no different they screwed the poorest and most vulnerable too

I don’t think it was as simple as that, this country had large asylums where people were basically left and forgotten by society, for many people it wasn’t treatment it was out of sight out of mind.
There was a belief that care in the community, would be better, and it might have been if the care services were there, but it seems in reality would be close asylums and leave people to fend for themselves in the community.
I know nothing about the lass, but after hearing reports and seeing her speak on the news reports, she sounded like one of the very FEW genuine MPs who were in it for the right reasons and to look after the interests of her constituents, and not like most of them… in it with their fat snouts in the trough for what they can get out of it for themseves.
RIP.

Sorry I really didn’t mean to offend, I just didn’t think that the first part was relevant to the point of mental healthcare.
