Is the brake line thread still on here?

Well Geoffrey is.

The size of me and the size of them, I’d have to get 2 to use as roller skates!:rofl::rofl:

A 5 speed manual box definitely makes an XJ12 more desirable.Modern distributor less ignition makes it more reliable. That’s more or less where the example in question stopped other than some induction modifcations.

Mine goes further with a 6 litre motor and ITB injection and late XJS rear suspension with outboard rear brakes and AP racing front brakes.Which makes it go and stop better.Uprated shocks and roll bars.

If mine’s worth even less than 1/2 of what that example which sold at the recent NEC classic car show auction, was worth to someone, it’ll be worth throwing £10k + at it to re commission it.

That might very well be true. (!)
If it has no tin worm then I would think that a bit of time and money might be a reasonable investment.
Classic cars are not guaranteed investments, and all need cash spent to merely keep their value, let alone have it increase.
But beware. A pretty blue RR with £15k recently spent, sold for under £9k. Iconic Auctioneers | 1979 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith-Sold

Ah he means the Harry Metcalfe one. Over 6 figures invested in it
A complete one off. And not what you have CF.

Yep.

Ah well.
Harry’s Garage is a bit different to mine, and I imagine to CF’s garage as well.https://youtu.be/qBNl32_eu6M?si=pUl3F7G0ZIMFT3nG

It’s oft been said that Carryfast lives in an alternative world, comparing his relic to the auctioned car does nothing to dispel that observation.

I didn’t ever buy it or own it as an investment. Now it’s just the decision between keeper or a scrapper.

It’ll obviously cost more, at this point, to keep it than to scrap it which is all that matters. The fact, that at very worse, it might actually be worth more than that and the amount invested in it in total so far, in the more than 25 years I’ve had it, is a game changer regarding ‘that’ specific decision to justify ‘that’ specific outlay. In the knowledge that it could be recouped in the event of any unforeseen financial requirements.

But specification wise it is definitely more of a one off than that example.Even before thinking about the further around 7 litre upgrade I’d always had in mind for it.

In exactly which way is it a one off in terms of performance ?.

Who mentioned anything about performance?

It’s a one off due to the amount of money spent creating it and also (and maybe more relevant these days) because of who its come from. Its journey from start to finish is out there for all to see on YouTube.

Behave yourself CF.

@carryfast we’ve had plenty of cheap talk concerning the illustrious Jaguar, but precious few photos.
Did you aquire it as a wreck, or has itgained that status in your stewardship?

My old girl is still going strong, I’ve put 17.500 miles on her in the 18 months I’ve owned her. :+1:

Can associate members hold office? Surely full membership would require a fully operational Jaguar.
