Hi Guys and girls looking for some info on Jack Richards.
I have a interview/assessment this week for a tramping position and before I go I wanted to do some digging and get peoples views.
What sort of contracts do Jack Richards do?
What allowances do they give on tramping( Night our/meal)?
Do they pay for parking or are they on SNAP or are you expected to do free parking?
How well maintained are there vehicles fridges/microwave ?
Do you get allocated your own vehicle or is it a different vehicle each week?
Plus feel free to add any other info that will be helpful
Don’t know if they still do it since becoming part of turners but they were doing a lot of smurfit kappa work out of snodland, Witney, mold, stayleybridge. So a lot of paper reels and then palletised cardboard packaging type products.
Never worked for them but I know they do various shifts.
Tramping is 4 on 4 off or 5 on 3 off. I’m always tempted to apply for 4 on 4 off.
But nearst depot is about 40 miles away
I have spoke to a few of their drivers when I have the misfortune of going onto the RDC work and they all seemed fairly happy. One had left to go onto the milk deliveries with Moran and ended up going back to Richard’s.
Turners pay is the lowest of the low so don’t expect it to get better.
good_friend:
Jack Richards used to claim that if you have an assessment you have a 90% chance of passing it
Makes me wonder why they bother running assessments if it’s that high
Much like before November you’d apparently get a job even if your guide dog was on holiday, new pass was a guaranteed too.
I was told its 8 week probation paid at below poverty wage then all would be good, and you’d be on the money…
Strangely since then though they now all of a sudden want one years experience?
Probably the only fridge you’ll see is the one your pulling.
If your lucky the only accessories you will find in a Jack Richards unit is a seat, a steering wheel and a radio
Does that mean no fridge, or is that another thread.
The tramping units do have fridges and microwaves. Their units and trailers are all well maintained. They like them to be kept clean. There’s a lot of Smurfitt Kappa work, but other stuff as well like cut timber for Ridgeons, Branston pickle out of Bury St Edmunds. I worked out of Fakenham and it was mostly a good outfit, although I heard there was some political conflict with the Northwich depot.
The guy in charge of the pallet work in Fakenham is a complete ■■■■■■, so unless you like being shouted at at every opportunity, avoid that work like the plague.
