I know couple of Polish driver who worked in England for couple of years and they don’t even know basic words in English ( I don’t know how they work everyday :-/) and its annoy me because when we come to UK we ( yes - I am Polish) want to work in UK we must learn English! so the same situation if English lads will come to Poland to work ( I know it never happen) they must learn Polish - simple.
The information available suggests that there is no actual EU ruling which says that movement of labour is dependent on language ability especially in the case of the job of driving trucks bearing in mind the already international non language dependent nature of the job.
The smoking gun that proves the agenda in our case is that the indigenous workforce has never had exactly the same rights to work in other ‘Commonwealth’ countries like Canada,NZ,and Australia as cheaper labour Commonwealth countries have had to work here like Africa,West Indies, and the Indian sub Continent. While very few,if any Canadians,Australians or New Zealanders would want to work here anyway.
The UK immigration policy has always been about the importation of labour with the least wage expectations possible,in order to over supply the labour market with a workforce which is compliant with the UK establishment exploitative non Fordist version of Capitalism. The Union ‘action’ of the 1970’s and non socialist tendency Union support of Powell’s policies were as close as we ever got in over turning that situation.

Polish,Latvian or any another fill vacancy ,where for some reason local people don t want work.
There is nowhere in the UK where local people “don’t want work”, and where local farmers and factory owners have been saved by hard-working eastern Europeans stepping in to fill the void.
There are plenty of places in the UK where wages no longer cover the cost of rent and other living costs, due to the influx of eastern European labour.
EU membership is and has always been the most enormous con-trick, played on the working-class by the ruling class. Mrs Thatcher must have licked her lips and salivated when she first noticed the army of cheap labour just across the River Oder, and Messrs Blair and Brown just picked up her baton and ran with it.
Food factory in Uk all the time pay for day time just national minimum wages.in 2004 it was 4.85.wages at factory go down for different reason but one from main who in last 10 years factory change owner(full or just hided to avoid pay some taxes).and new owner offer contract to new people where overtime will be paid less and less, all this new owner -mainly big company who want just pump money out .it is not family running company.big different
second problem for people -Uk work time regulation.absolutely sh—t. this regulation allow to company pay to staff just national minimum wages for any shift 365 day per years.no night shift allowance,Sunday or any another.so company not broken any rules if they offer NMW.

I think some of you have lost the plot on this thread.
The reason to post it in the first place was to ASK why they had to advertise for Drivers written in POLISH. UNLESS they were trying to TARGET POLISH drivers, THEN why would you Target POLISH drivers IF their were Qualified British drivers who can do the Job ? The only Answer to that is that THEY must be CHEAPER to employ or it would not make any sense to employ somebody who cannot read ENGLISH and only speak limited ENGLISH. So the reason for this thread is hopefully to get an answer to this.
Simple fact is the and many other hauliers can’t get suitably qualified drivers to do the work.
So they are casting their net further.
I get to visit a lot of hauliers and some of the reasons I’ve heard are:
A lot of the older drivers didn’t want to do driver CPC and packed in.
Some drivers did their CPC courtesy of the company (not Jack Richards I should add) and promtly left to do agency work for more money as they are dangling pound signs.
Guy’s don’t want nights out and have transferred into the warehouse etc
Plain fact of the matter is nobody wants to do 5 nights out in a steel box any more.
I’ll puit money on the fact that there is someon at Richards from Poland.
They will have written the advert and will talk to these drivers.
the drivers will have reasonable English and will learn more as they go on.
I can’t say I’ve noticed an increase in accidents and incidents attributed to the Eastern Europeans.
Plenty of UK sounding home grown talent having bumps.
They do seem to split couple a bit more though which causes problems for the H & S men.
