Jack Richards ---Polish Drivers

Just come across this on Jack Richards web site for careers under Driving Jobs. Under Class 1 opportunity’s there is a section written completely in POLISH :open_mouth: :open_mouth: . So has it now got to the point that they will employ Drivers WHO CANNOT EVEN SPEAK ENGLISH. I am so so glad that my time in this industry is coming to an end as surly the future of this industry is going God Knows where.
[VB} depressing really. :imp: :imp:

It’s not going God knows where, it’s going in an Easterly direction at a rate of knots.

in their defence a lot of polish can speak pretty good english maybe it just easier for them in the first instance?

Just because they can’t read, doesn’t mean they can’t speak!

Sorry Mate but I can see a massive problem there, not being able to read then how do they follow written instructions.

i can speak very good arabic/french/spanish but ill be damned if i can read it

i cant be doing with it when they cant speak a word of english and the drive and english truck

they get someone who can speak and read english and then get them on the phone :unamused:

I’m sure at least a smattering of written English might help. I’m thinking the likes of,
Bridge closed to high sided vehicles
Low bridge ahead
Not suitable for HGV
Road ahead closed follow diversion
All deliveries go around the back
Back in 10 mins
Vote ukip
To list just a few, ok not the last one but there must be plenty others.

They are two types of polish lad in my experience, some lads are great and speak good English and go out of there way to be friendly.
Then there’s the ones that can’t speak good English and are poor at driving etc.
Same as English drivers good and bad in everybody.
I do find it astonishing though that a british firm will employ a bloke who speaks no English.

I can speak/read English & yet most hauliers wouldn’t employ me. I’d say leave them to it, it’s their company, let them do what they want.

The language issue is a total red herring or there would never have been such a thing as international haulage.

What matters in this case is the fact that we are being governed by a regime and an agenda which is based on a corrupted form of capitalism that is all about minimising wage costs. The importation of cheap east european labour with much lower wage expectations being just a part of that agenda.

Which benefits you directly by lower prices for the goods you pay in the shops.

Im sure they would be in the same money as fellow Brit drivers, I think the difference will be that they get more bang for their buck, in more ways than one:lol:

Which is just as well as we are earning less.

The fact is wages are running behind prices and therefore have been falling in in real terms over a long period.Lower incomes also means less tax revenues. While immigration adds to population and therefore housing demand and social costs including wage top up benefits. The rigging of the labour market in favour of over supply being a large factor in causing that situation.

The issue being that ‘same’ money would obviously be higher ‘if’ we reduce the labour supply and in an environment in which wage ‘expectations’ are higher than those of an immigrant east european workforce. We’ve been here before in the 1970’s when at least the thinking tendency of the unions supported Powell. Not blind socialism allied to the interests of cheap labour.

can anyone actually prove they are only on 32p an hour versus the good old english driver who is on £15?

i would assume that a large firm like the afforementioned pay the same irrespective, yes your local joe bloggs with a vehicle or 4 may not but large firms i doubt very much.

and i managed quite well in greece, spain, portugal and italy to name a few without speaking or reading the local language :open_mouth:

The laws of supply and demand say that the ‘average’ real wage in this country is a lot less, than it would/should have been/be in a much more strictly controlled immigration environment which puts the priority on keeping demand for labour in balance with,or even above, supply. As opposed to vice versa.
