Never driven a Stralis but might be doing soon.
Any tips, tricks, quirks?
How to set cruise control? Are they fitted with a variable temporary maximum speed limiter like Mercs?
Would expect vehicles to be up to 4 years old.

last one I drove, was easier to use the manual rather than auto as found it slow. expect various bits of plastic to fall of / break.
cant recall the cruise control.

Yes, get another motor
+1.
Watch the trim on the drivers door arm rest. It falls off very easily just by resting your elbow on it. Topping up the engine oil requires you to jack the cab up.

A stralis up to 4yrs old you are going to need alot of bluetac to stop the interior making alot of rattles, creaks and generally falling to bits pal
Drove 1 for a couple of weeks . are a nice design and comfortable . cheap finish but no worse than new volvo
But thing that stands out in my memory was top bunk . its like a double . and passenger seat goes to back wall with a fold out table . til it fell off .
Best driving tip -
Find a steep hill that leads to the sea.
Park at the top of it
Leave in neutral with the handbrake off
Exit cab
Go to shop and return 3 minutes later
Show your boss some Volvo dealership brouchers
Oh so the interiors aren’t very well put together then?
Snowman as its a blue chip co. and I will ony be part time sadly I will have no influence on fleet replacement.
Believe me, I would much prefer to be driving a Volvo, Merc, Daf, MAN or even Renault. (You’ll notice Scania isn’t in that list )
Great engine and go like stink, they cant be that bad look how many italians and spanish run them…i had a iveco years back and the main problem i found was the dealers were propper crap
I go through first couple of gears manually when moving off then press button for cc as seems to take an age in auto.
At lights /junctions start accelerating few seconds before you actually want to move as nito response and you will cut up fast moving vehicles because of this .
Press (d)rive or (r)everse button for 4 seconds when in yard or manouvering , much easier to work with.
Don’t put passenger side window down to the max , more than likely won’t come back up.
If long distance take a cushion for your rear , worst seat ever!.
Hold on to your pants going up hills , goes like stink even fully loaded .
If you have to drive it then you have to drive it, you don’t get a choice very often in this game.
You check the oil level by turning the ignition on, it will come up on the screen after its done its checks, it’s only there for a few seconds. Vehicle has to have been stationary for 30 mins to get a reading. Or you can tilt the cab to get to the dipstick, also to top up.
Cruise is turned on by pressing the rocker switch on end of right arm. You toggle it up or down as required, speed is on screen, 2 boxes, what it can do & what it is set to. This arm is also the exhaust brake, pull it down to use, and to use gears manually, pull towards you for gears up etc.
Left arm is screen wash, button on end. Indicators & washers.
Gears are normally 3 square buttons RND, short press for normal drive, press & hold for a few seconds for slow drive.
They are noisy so earplugs may be required.
The wind noise is terrible.
Only drive it in the dry shocking in the wet too much wheelspin, inside isn’t up to much but before work nobbled the limit to 52 used to go like stink tbh.
Having to drop the top bunk to get to the night heater bit odd but spoilt being lucky enough to drive a new FH everyday tho.

Same as a Renault Premium.
Italian engines are pretty good ,Iveco do it all themselves ,they have a lab in Switzerland ,all part of ftp ,fiat power trains…though I don’t think Ferrari and Maserati use it ,but I may be wrong )
you need tips on how to drive a bloody automatic ?
whatever next ?
erm lets see what tip can i give you ? find another job ?
how about putting the knob into drive and pressing down on the accelerator, ( thats the thing on the floor that makes it move by the way, the more pressure you put on it the faster you will go, ) i am assuming you know how to brake and where the brake pedal is ?
if not please feel free to post up another thread asking for tips on how to use the brake pedal
Easy now Pete. Anybody would think you’re in a position to drive a truck yourself. How little they know!

Night heater’s on the dash display and a rocker switch.
People seem to have trouble with the gearboxes but if you didn’t get a clutch bite on a manual, when you want to pull away quick, you wouldn’t get anywhere fast. You need to drive them a bit slowly before you stop, this makes sure the gear changes are keeping up with what you want to be in.

Can’t speak for the older Renault’s, but the Volvo ones don’t require the cab to be tipped to do the oil.
