no one wants to/is willing to work bank holidays, yet moans when the shops closed/roads are busy/no post etc…
Thats just the English for you.
Had 3 drivers at my place suddenly come up with unrelated reasons why they absolutley cant work this weekend, car trouble, health, general bull, if I didnt want to work i’d ask upfront, take chances with a yes or no, rather knowing the boss thinking im the type to give him a load of ■■■■■■■■ at the drop of a hat so if something does happen outside of work he’s more inclined to believe me.
We don’t work Bank Holidays. 4 day weekend is lush.
Well that’s your gaffers problem for not checking if a place is going to open for deliveries this easter weekend before sending you there.

I worked today, 10-2 :L Gaffer told me to bugger off if there were no more runs, so told the forkie I was going to the pub (because he was going 12-8 ) then left. 7 hours pay for about 1.5 hours work (spent the rest reading or popping around the corner in the van. Literally around the corner to the other site ).
But I’ve got a 4 day weekend too! Sat-Tue.

Surely you should have check with your traffic planner / manager before you left the yard…Considering is Good Friday etc etc didnt you at least phone in advance to find out delivery arrangements
Since when has it has been the drivers job to double check the planners work ? if he says load the truck for ■■? then the driver should expect someone there to receive the goods or am I expecting to much ■■?

treble time and a day in lieu or quadruple time! 
I’d rather have four days off 
If it’s on my shift I work it. I’m lucky I’m on tonight / Friday off sat as a freebie then back Sunday followed by 2 rest days
And Christmas always works a treat

Wouldn’t worry about it doze, it’s another case of Stobby ■■■■ poor incompetent planning, not your problem, no need to go for a backload, and you’re getting paid for it …sorted.

Park up outside the customers gates and have a long weekend in the cab on break …being paid. Planner is an ■■■■■■■■ !

By the time ive asked my planners to call a delivery or collection I could have done it myself plus I can claim a £1 per phone call so I do it myself, obviously this makes me look self sufficient and also helps pay for my phone contract.
Anyway due to collecting a box from Stobbies widnes on Friday morning I rang to check if they where open, bit of confusion with the stobbies phone girl but turns out they where open till 5am ish.
Had 15 available so managed to get it loaded on Thursday night with a sweet little 2hour relaxing run in Friday morning, I was even home in time to enter the wife.
Its all about options guys, the more we give ourselves the easier this job becomes. Dont leave it up to planners, a bit of comunication works wonders. Also helps me get my leg over.

At least, our resident binge drinking legend has set the bar quite high, im bloody going for it tonight though, lads night with lap dancing finale (hopefully not from the lads again, some of me crew go gay very early). Permission slip given from the wife to crack on… quite literally.

I just wish a few more would think like this…instead of not my job syndrome…If the OP had done this, then he wouldn’t be on here ■■■■■■■■ and making a drama out of something out of nothing
