It's fine to run on red

albion1971:
As I said earlier if you have run on red anytime there will be traces within your system which are hard to remove.
If you are caught you can be prosecuted unless the laws have changed over the past few years.

One or two facts, in order to prosecute you the HMRC need a certain proportion of the fuel in your tank to be red, I don’t know what percentage they require to bring a prosecution but I can tell you a fact. A good mate of mine was running his 12 month old Shogun on red when ‘the boys’ came into his yard, they sampled his fuel & found it to contain rebated diesel & charged him £250 for having rebated fuel in his tank & £250 for knowingly putting ‘the same’ in his tank & told him he had 24 hrs free of further prosecution to get the red out of his car.

They went on to tell him that in their mobile lab’ test his fuel was 65 to 70% red!!! He’d run the Shogun from new on red & hadn’t put any white in from it being a week old?? I think the % they gave was arbitrary & only to get him to sign their document, either that or their test equipment isn’t worth ‘squat’!!! (please excuse the Americanism)
