Its coming tonight, the new generation Scania

I didn’t see that picture, looks better from that angle, I still don’t see the flat usable space on the passenger side, unless it folds away like the current version?
It may look better or more detailed in the flesh but clearer well lit photos like they have in the sales brochures would be better.

Scania never seem to have been a fan of giving drivers flat usable space on the dash. Suppose it keeps truck table manufacturers in business!

I recently acquired a fold out original scania table that comes out of the fuse box lid, makes all the difference at meal times without having a big lump of timber on the window.

So far what’s not to like? Wonder how long before some … fits a white steering wheel out of a 141? Bound to happen.

looks like if you forgo the top bunk theres plenty of storage options

SCR only on the smaller engines, so no EGR, no regeneration, I assume.
loads of work on drag reductions, no doubt wasted when they get covered with after market light bars.
Dash looks a bit cluttered, but nice to see they’ve got found a use for the old SAAB sat navs

Not sure if I’d end up thinking the table thing in the middle was really useful or really annoying.

That’s quite neat.

^^^^ this exactly, forget the multi function steering wheel, rip the dash out and spray paint it, then talk how the 4 series was the last good scania ever made and they are living on former glory. Wonder who will be the first person to offer up a 4 series T cab bonnet to it?.

It looks like the XF with an inflated price tag, the FH the T range from Renault and the Actros look much nicer and cost a bit less.

Never liked Scania myself, uncomfortable, that ■■■■■■ 3 speed box and the god awful headlights probably improved since my last outing in one, given the choice I would go for the Volvo.

The best ever looking Scania for me was the 143H.

And turns the inside into a gypsies caravan!

Its neat enough, looks like an easy motor to give a swill down with the pressure washer, i’m very pleased to see those solid MAN style wardrobe door mirrors on the mock ups aren’t on the real one.

Interior up to a point doesn’t matter to me so long as its functional and doesn’t fall apart like some other makes, though the steering wheel switches might be getting to stupid levels (no worse than DAFs dash though with bloody switches all over the shop), i’d like to try one in standard fleet spec (which is what we’ll get) and see if the engine is a bit quieter to be around and if the gearbox is better, but most importantly for me is how it drives how it pulls and how intrusive the distance/lane control/autobraking and any other new unwanted electronic ■■■■■■■■ is.
Not forgetting, maybe the exhaust brake does more than make a noise now?

Spot the difference?

So, when are we going to see photos of the bread and butter versions? Its nice to see the flagship, but very few drivers are gonna get one.

If you click on the Commercial Motor link in the OP, you’ll find the new R series there too.

Passenger seat looks comfy.

S’bout it.

Interesting to note they haven’t adopted an electronic handbrake. Wonder how the other technology stacks up. Become a big fan of electronic handbrake and personally think they are safer

P.s I see the leaks we’re spot on. First this Chinese model maker leaks the Volvo now Scania, surely that’s the end of them getting previews to build models. Scania really should have learnt from Volvo lesson and not touched them with a bargepole

Interior has caught up with its rivals at last, the outside looks like someone has driven an old Scania into an XF and some of the bits have stuck together. All those integrated lights wont stop some numpty from erasing all the tiny gains by chucking a light bar or six on it though!

Well the lack of electronic handbrake will please a lot of people, I’ve never tried one in a truck so I’ll reserve judgement, although once I got used to them never had a problem with using them in a car.
Maybe they did learn lessons from Volvo With the leak of the model of the Scania, it would be a good way of a manufacture keeping interest in the launch of a new model, without actually releasing pictures of the actual truck.

On the basis that I thought the FH and the new Renaults looked awful at first, but now think they look smart, I suspect the look of the new Scania will grow on me as well. I look forward to seeing the first one in the livery of a UK haulier.

As a day driver I’ve always liked Scania’s, think they are reliable and do a good job. This new model looks more comfortable inside, so it’s a thumbs up from me.

looks like a dollied up Daf XF to me, think ah,ll stick to my Merc and Volvo…thank you very much Mr Scania !!!

it looks bland on the outside, cant really see from the inside pic whether or not they’ve got the driver and the windscreen a little closer? never been a fan of needing to get a taxi to clean the screen lol.

A lot of people seem to be saying they like the interior, but what I don’t understand is what is Scanias thought process when designing them, most truck manufacturers now recognise the importance of in-cab space, ease of movement around the cabin, ease of getting dressed and so on, yet Scania still insist on taking up half the middle of the interior with that bloody great monstrosity of a centre console/table, and is a flat (or near as damnit) floor so out of the question?

Why does a truck need a flat-bottomed steering wheel?? My car has one and they’re bloody awful things. :imp:
