Can’t believe no one has asked the most important question.
Does Bertie get his own desk?
Congrats Luke
Good luck Luke, you might go back to driving after a while, but challenges that scare and excite at the same time is what keeps life interesting.

How do chaps. Three years ago the 750 came like a bolt out of the blue and surprised me, now, in 2015 something else. Promotion. Three weeks left of my 18 year driving career before I become a transport manager. Basically I’m getting the chance to start up my own transport company. It’s terrifyingly exciting. Any advice from anyone who’s done the same gratefully received, I’ve a lot to learn. And anyone who wants to have a pop, at me or the company, dont bother. Ive heard it all before.#OFFICEWARD
all the very best luke go for it god speed mate

He’s too busy taking up the mantle of cleaning up the lay byes of this country with his picky up stick he got for next to nothing and on his way to a knighthood!!
Congratulations and all the best in the new venture of TM Luke. I don’t think it will take long for you to get itchy feet though
I think you should make Bertie the dept manager. When you ring up your drivers to give them the crappier jobs put the voice on. They’ll find it hard not to laugh. Mind you if you did, it won’t be long before some doh will be on here moaning his manager is a real legohead
Maybe make him driver trainer
Best of luck with new venture Switch, am sure it will be an eye opener. Maybe a good thing to be keeping your hand in behind the wheel, would be a bit extreme to just suddenly stop, esp as it involves handing over the 750’s keys, ouch!
One definition of a manager is that they organise resources to achieve a task. A definition of a leader is that they motivate followers to achieve goals even though the followers have the discretion to do otherwise. The word manager has been adopted by many and the role of the leader is misunderstood by almost the same number. I’m sure that you will be a leader rather than a manager and success will come from that. There will be times ahead that you will wonder if you have made the right decision. You have, but dont be hard on yourself if not everything is perfect.
Good luck with your new career change, I hope everything works out well for you

That’s a genius idea! If not thought of that! I can just imagine the arguments now!

Oh I will be. It’s not going to be office bound and 9-5. Be more like 5-9 too start with and they’ll be plenty of driving, at least to start with

Thank you sir. I’m already preparing myself for those ‘what the hell have I done’ days!
You mention on the vid wearing your top hat. Put it on with a suit for the driver’s interviews, and interview them dressed as a Victorian gentleman type, with a monocle for extra effect.
Video it and give us all a laugh at their reactions on meeting you.

Best of luck in the new job! One last video before you pack it up?
