How long will it be before you throw your hands up and demand to get back on the road. Also, whos getting the 750?
We shall see. Iâm not ruling it out! No idea whoâs getting it. Donât think theyâve decided yet

What sort of place are you looking for? Iâm in Tamworth, and know of a couple of places that are available.
Oooo that could be handy. Basically a fairly basic hard to start with with room enough for 15/20 trailers. No need for buildings, can put portakabins up. Pop me an email lorrydriverluke@live.com

Good luck with your new venture mate, canât fault you for âhaving a goâbtw. If you are looking for drivers I believe dozy, McThickery, and Boss&Driver are looking for jobsâŚhope thatâs of some help to you.
They are on my list
Dipper_Dave:
Anyway hope all goes well, try and get back on the road once in a while if possible, you may go stir crazy once the novelty wears off.
Thankfully itâs going to be a pretty hands on job, plenty of driving, used work etc. A full time office job would do my head in!
merc0447:
So you handed in your noticeâŚwhat where you going to do before this happened?
I say in the video, I was going freelance. Had already lined up customers. Never in a million years expected Virginia to come back with this offer
OVLOV JAY:
Watched the video earlier mate. Well done, Iâm in the process of finalising things to come off the road too. Been held up by my boss going on a cruise. Iâm going to be fleet manager, but might have my work cut out with these euro 6 fhâs
How are you feeling about it? Find it a bit daunting too? Iâve never ever worked in an office so itâll be an interesting change
hardyd44:
I can guarantee after about 3 months in the office you will get itchy feet and long to go back on the road (I did) - I took a week off and went working for a friend (paid) early starts, late finish, multi drop - that got it out of my system, after that I was fine.Get the firm to join the FTA, the advice centre, handbook and around 3 monthly transport briefings are worth every penny on keeping you up to date with changes to legislation and best practice for keeping DVSA off your back.
I cant comment on the RHA as never worked for a firm that was a member - that says a lot as nearly every company I have worked for was blue chip
After over 20 years office bound (mainly), I can say if not money wise, family and health wise best decision I made.
Good Luck
Thank you, good advice. Luckily its going to be a pretty hands on job so wonât be office bound all the time. Iâll be doing the odd run when needs must and plenty of yard work so should keep me interested
Well done Luke, hope it works out for you.
Good luck with it all sounds a good challenge.
Was talking to my other half the other day about doing something different our mortgage is finished next year so will start looking at opt I one now
A while back I got what I was told was an ongoing class 1 job with a metal structures firm in west London - it involved driving up north, usually, to pick up a trailer loaded with a structure and drive it back, or to wherever it was to be installed. The driver I was replacing was moving to a transport management role because someone else had left. But before the day was done, the agency rang to tell me the guy had decided he wanted his old job back, and didnât want to even do the week. Biggest disappointment of my career so far, but I could understand why he liked the job.
Youâll have to let us know in the future if itâs changed from âonwardsâ to âupwardsâ or maybe âbackwardsâ
all the best
Best of luck, so what were you going to do before he gave you the job, you must have had something lined up.
Night man will have it cushty⌠Tamworth to Holyhead
Good luck with it Luke. Still canât decide if youâd be a good boss or a â â â â lol

I was going freelance. I had a couple of customers lined up. Felt bad about letting them down but they knew this was an opportunity I couldnât turn down so both were really good about it
All the best in your new venture Luke, It is nearly 12 months since i came off the road and in to the office as TM, some days it is ok others its like ground hog day and the biggest thing i miss about being on road is my mid morning nap
Best of luck hope it works for you and you can become a star at that aswell. Also nice to see that virginia respect you so much and did not want to let you go proper company that shows respect to people they value so highly
