How do chaps. Three years ago the 750 came like a bolt out of the blue and surprised me, now, in 2015 something else. Promotion. Three weeks left of my 18 year driving career before I become a transport manager. Basically I’m getting the chance to start up my own transport company. It’s terrifyingly exciting. Any advice from anyone who’s done the same gratefully received, I’ve a lot to learn. And anyone who wants to have a pop, at me or the company, dont bother. Ive heard it all before. #OFFICEWARD
nice one! and the best of luck with it!
looking forward to future videos of the transition and what its really like to be a TM.
How long will it be before you throw your hands up and demand to get back on the road. Also, whos getting the 750?

Congratulations! Shame there will be no more travelogues though, ah well. Good things finish on a peak, new ones to come! It’s nice to hear your company recognises and values good talent and a personable, responsible individual who represents them well. Keep us posted.

Congratulations, I wish you all the best. Although the word “Manager” is alien to me. Can I also suggest a pair of Brasher hillmaster 2 gtx, instead of wellies for walking the pups. These are fantastic boot’s for low to medium level walking and if looked after will last year’s. I use Scarpa hs12 cream to treat them.

And in what way is getting a 50% pay cut a promotion?
well done mate
tamworth if your stuck give me a shout,
Proper job. You show them how it’s done.
Yes, congratulations you’ll need to grow a thicker skin in the next three weeks though!
all the best for the future pal
Good luck fella
Watched the video earlier mate. Well done, I’m in the process of finalising things to come off the road too. Been held up by my boss going on a cruise. I’m going to be fleet manager, but might have my work cut out with these euro 6 fh’s
Congratulations I hope it works out

Having spent 14 months as a fleet “manager” at a depot of 45 units and 110 trailers,
Then promoted to TM when I got my CPC & spent 20 months doing that, I was glad to go back on the road. I can say it definitely take a certain character to take on these roles
I can guarantee after about 3 months in the office you will get itchy feet and long to go back on the road (I did) - I took a week off and went working for a friend (paid) early starts, late finish, multi drop - that got it out of my system, after that I was fine.
Get the firm to join the FTA, the advice centre, handbook and around 3 monthly transport briefings are worth every penny on keeping you up to date with changes to legislation and best practice for keeping DVSA off your back.
I cant comment on the RHA as never worked for a firm that was a member - that says a lot as nearly every company I have worked for was blue chip
After over 20 years office bound (mainly), I can say if not money wise, family and health wise best decision I made.
Good Luck
My health and my family are the reason I’m giving up the wheel. My eldest is off to senior school soon, and I’ve never been there for plays, parents evening etc. It’s put a strain on my marriage too, after 12 years she’s had enough of living with a tramper. Trouble is, day work near me doesn’t pay nearly enough. I’ve hit 16st as well, so I’ve joined a gym, but at the moment it’s pretty useless doing it once a week
Good for you Switch & best of luck
So you handed in your notice…what where you going to do before this happened?
Congrats Luke, watched a bit of your video but only caught first minute then skipped to the last bit (force of habit), nice to see a video without live jasmin popping up though.
Anyway hope all goes well, try and get back on the road once in a while if possible, you may go stir crazy once the novelty wears off.
Looking forward to your future videos of in office cooking and the correct way to split couple a laptop.
Good luck with your new venture mate, can’t fault you for ‘having a go’
btw. If you are looking for drivers I believe dozy, McThickery, and Boss&Driver are looking for jobs…hope that’s of some help to you.
What sort of place are you looking for? I’m in Tamworth, and know of a couple of places that are available.
