Are you busy?
I work in Furniture manufacturing, 1 wagon 1 driver. No driving since beginning of Dec. Been in Warehouse fitting the furniture (Stock), basic 39 hours.
Could be some orders coming in end Jan? Can see short time if not! A lot of meetings by the Management!!!
Gregory’s are absolutely rammed out with work, to the point where they are now advertising a Driver Recruitment Day at Cullompton on the rear of the trailers, 25th January I believe, if that’s of any help to anyone.
Well was my first day back yesterday and was busy as he’ll,then today half past 2 and done nothing to do.
This is my first new year on boxes and been told January and February are quite as is Chinese New Year
My wagon was stored at Scania for a couple of weeks and I too did a bit of warehouse work, well scrapping and cutting up old trucks , the week before and after Christmas as thats our lull time but its picking up now as all the flt’s we delivered for the Christmas rush are being returned all to go back out for the Easter rush
First day back yesterday and it was busy today hardly anything just enough to scrape the day out my boss stayed at home and it was just me and his brother out on the road. It’s always a little quite this time of year the weathers not helping. I noticed some drainage being dropped of if it gets that quite I think my boss has plans for us by the looks of it .
Busy for me on wilkinsons. Bloody hell they don’t half sell some stuff especially Stratford and it’s bang next door too poundstretcher. Had to do 4 hrs xtra yesterday. At 19.58 an hour. What a bummer. Took a trailer from Romford too ilford with 36 cages sweat sweat cups of tea
I’d expected to be quiet Jan/Feb, panic call to do a run last Friday and full time this week piloting a new run, not heard about next week yet but hopefully I’ll get the same run if they keep it going.
We had realy picked up around august september time up to christmas. Not a lot happened up until monday as most of our work is for the construction work. Since mondsy it seems to have got back to pre christmas level which is good as construction work is ususly quiet until about march.

Nothing added to the website for Cullompton as yet, unless you want vacumn tank work, I am obviously standing on the wrong motorway bridge to see the trailer doors
The cement company we lug the sand and aggregate to in Deptford went into administration before xmas so nothing doing at all and can’t see any light at the end of the tunnel either so might have to revalidate my class 1 and get a ‘proper’ job
Jeez… I’ve just been given flat out work for the next fortnight… It’s the second week of January and I’m agency - WTF■■?
(got 4 days this week, was expecting 1… Economic upturn in progress, or is there any other explanation?
(My missus has her theory - everyone with zero hours dcpc like me is doing it this, and next week - pre-booked - I’m not buying it though!)
I was gonna do mine as well, but I think I’ll leave it until after Easter now.
A bit slack tbh, de-hired 6 units and about 12 fridge trailers (still using subbies though ) I’m not too worried though, there’s plenty of demanding prima donna’s to be laid off before they get to me.
